Item cannot be purchased in app

Ive listed an item for sale UK to UK sales only - 146687345816

It only has "buying options" appear instead of the Buy it Now choice and then a message says the following when pressed:

"You can't purchase this item from our app. Add it to your watchlist"

Its not an item I'd deem restricted so why can't anyone buy it via the app?! No other similar item on the app has this issue and I've checked a few!

Yes, you are completely correct - purchasable from a web browser but for some reason not the app.

All the other times this has come up in the community (between 2018 - 2024) it has not had any satisfactory conclusion ... either referred to technical support or batted away as a problem with the seller.

Given it has not become endemic I would infer that it is either a problem which resolves itself (either by some periodic refresh happening; some manual check completed; some timer expires; or eBay re-fixing a bug) or perhaps app-only sales are not a huge part of sales ... not sure.

Thank you. Will try to remember to pop along to that! Its so very random. I checked similar listing's- some have the same issue as mine & some can be purchased. I've not got international shipping on so, I've no idea. Just had to add a note to my listing to hopefully advise BUT if I ever try to access ebay on my phone via browser, it just forces me back to the app. Sadly after 23 years on ebay, im used to issues never been resolved and just palmed away.

If you can’t wait till Wednesday get a call back from customer services and ask them what exactly is going  on

I tried the Live Chat.... was told it would be "passed to the technical team". Can't say im holding my breath.

Ah lovely. Offer was sent which I tried to accept but won't work as via the app. May aswell take it off ebay if I physically cannot sell it!! kat@ebay could someone kindly help with this as I’ve had no update from the apparent technical team and offers just won't go through!

Just a thought - if you briefly uninstall the app and then respond to the offer via the web browser?

I used my work laptop and made no difference as the offer is just stuck on pending now. Saying they've notified the buyer but I am speedily giving up with ebay if I can't sell stuff 🤷‍♀️

Usually digitally delivered goods cannot be purchased on the app and only through the website. As this listing mentioned digital its possible it got flagged and included in that process. It looks to be resolved now.

I've just had exactly this problem today. It was also on an item in 'information services'.

Unfortunately the buyer went elsewhere, and I lost a customer because of this problem.

I would just change the product category, but then I'm forced to use the dreaded 'simple delivery' for a something sent as an ebay message.

Possibly the worst part is I only know I lost this sale because the customer sent a message. There is no telling how many others never bothered to send a message.

Ive had the same issue for a while now and ive continuously contacted eBay on the matter but they dismiss it saying its an issue in the buyers end. Ive lost a customer today which is infuriating but i cant do anything about it but hope time solves it.
