How do I speak to a real person in Ebay?
They arrogantly assume the AI will answer - It cant answer even the most basic question.
They arrogantly assume the help pages cover all subjects. - They dont! You just get sent in circles from the AI to the help pages. Neither are any good!

You should be able to use the chat assistant to request a chat with a person or a call back.
What options you see may depend on your particular issue and how busy that department is at the moment.
Try entering "agent" into the chat window. You may have to provide some context to reach the correct department. If you see a "Still need help?" or "More options" choice, either of those should lead to a call back option.
If nothing else works, try this link between 5am to 9:30pm Pacific Time:

I have tried this and the automated response wont work it keeps asking me to select an item and read articles - I am starting to cry it is so frustrating.

Try the link -- ignore the time zone info (which is wrong, sorry).
The current wait time for a call back in the UK is three minutes.

The link in my original reply above:

Wait time for a call back is currently 40 minutes right now, though.

Go on your posting history and find an item that has been 'delivered'. Enter the tracking numer and it will give an option at the end to speak to an operator. When human answers tell him your problem.

If you are answering the original OP's question, the question and thread is a year old.

eBay staff likely have no idea this post even exists - THey would rather their customers cry and gnash than they engage their brains and provide an appropriate level of satisfaction.
We can't even block sellers! There's no easy way of resolving issues as they've replaced rationally thinking humans with useless, repetitive AI to save money.
Their lack of responsibility is embarrassing and is pushing people away from the platform. The upside to eBay's lack of engagement is replacements popping up with improved services and eBay will slowly fade away because they didn't keep up.

Use the Help & Contact page to contact eBay directly. Use this forum to ask general technical questions about eBay to see if other users have an answer.
We can't even block sellers!
You can block sellers' items from appearing in a specific search using the Advanced Search page to exclude up to ten sellers by username. Bookmark or save the search, and then use that link as the starting point for new searches to continue to block those sellers.

Most issues can be resolved without needing to contact eBay directly. If you have a specific question or you don't know what to do, start a new thread and include some general details of what you are trying to do or what you want to know.

Like I said, you can't 'block' sellers (never see them anywhere), only filter some out on a search. Recommendations don't use search filters.

You have to choose from a limited set of accepted problems. If you don't have one of the problems they let you report, you have to try to convince the bots to let you talk to a human. When 'contact us' is a redirect to 'help & support'? I understand there are articles for simple problems, but more complex ones require a discussion with a human representative.
While most people only ever have simple problems, I would say that most people know how to use eBay and have no issues buying or selling. And yes, the information made available does help most people. However, the language used is not very explanatory (you can't ask a document what it means, or about specific cases, or simply for clarity) and pushing you through support documents and funnelling you through multiple choice options doesn't suit every issue, and eBay is rife with seller abuse and bugs.
eBay's support, like too many 'cost-effective' consumer engagement 'solutions', is antithetical to providing reassurance, a basis for trust and edge-case user support.
Seller blocks could even be used to rank shops and prioritise sellers with better reputations, or even remove abusive sellers (fake items, duplicate photos, poor descriptions, etc, etc.)
eBay is actively choosing to not resolve issues or improve the application to benefit buyers and hold sellers and listings to a high standard, maybe because they think they will drive sellers away which will hurt their revenue stream. Well, if they're selling fake goods, good riddance. It's literally bad for business to have high standards, eBay needs to be held to account for their lack of engagement and responsibility.

Why does that matter O_o
It's just a year, it's really not a long time!
The longevity of a post is a testament to it's relevance and it seems that the subject matter is still highly relevant.

How would you recommend we report a software bug?
06-05-2025 6:21 AM
Many My eBay pages have a "Tell us what you think" link to report page or feature issues to eBay developers.
Listings and search results have a "Comment" / "Feedback" / "?" link on the right side of the page to report technical issues.
