Ebay unable to support this bank (Virgin Money)

I recently opened a new business current account with Virgin money but received an error when trying to link it to my ebay account. The error says that ebay does not support this bank but I have used another account with the same bank on ebay for 14 years. Virgin customer service says they have no issues with Ebay and Ebay customer service have been unable to explain this to me, I am currently waiting on a response to my last query but this is unfortunetly putting things on hold for me right now.

Has anyone had a similar experience, particuarlly with a Virgin Money account and if so what was the outcome?

Are you using that bank to receive payments on your other account,  or just to make payments?

Sorry if that was a little unclear and thanks for the response.

I have had 1 bank account linked to my ebay account since it was created which has been used for both making and receiving payments. I recently opened a new bank account (with the same bank) and am now trying to link this to my ebay account (for both sending and receiving payments), I would like to remove the old one and use this one only moving forward. 

I have tried the 'add new account' option and have also tried to remove the old one first (as it then asks you to enter details of a new one before it will allow it).

Ebay gives a list of banks which doesn't include Virgin money but gives the option to manually enter account details if the users bank is not there, but when I enter the details that is when I receive the 'this bank is not supported' error message.

Have you sorted this, as I've got a similar issue?

My friend has been using Virgin Money for a while as their bank on ebay, so I decided to switch from Barclays to Virgin but ebay says it's not supported!

I've just changed to using Virgin Money for money coming in and out of eBay and have linked it no problem. I had to manually put in the info as it want on eBay's bank list. There's a number of different parts of Virgin Money - My bank account sort code starts 05 (M Plus acct) .

My eBay account is not a business one and my virgin account is not a business one. It is all working fine though seemed to take perhaps 10days for it to all be confirmed. I'm wondering if people having problems are to do with eBay +/or virgin business accounts 🤔

Yes, I have the same problem and there is no reason for it because Ebay accept Monzo and other small Internet banks. I have to accept payment in my HSBC personal account,  then transfer it to the Virgin account

Hi, is your eBay account and your Virgin Money account both personal accounts and not business ones?

My Virgin Money is an MPlus account with sort code starting 05. It all works fine though, as I mentioned, it took 10 days or so to be processed.

No, they are both business accounts. The bank sort code starts with 82

I don't know why they have that restriction, nor if it will resolve when Nationwide takes over Virgin Money. 

On a different thread someone wrote "However, here ..... between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. is a chat with eBay Community managers, comeback and post the question there, will the account be accepted in the near future, they may know of any movement for this."

Could poss be worth asking them??

That is very helpful thank you. I also sell on Amazon and they have no problem with Virgin Money business accounts. Virgin is part of Clydesdale Bank now.

Amazon are happy sending funds to my Virgin Money business account.

Update to issue. 
today I tried once more and this time the Virgin bank details have been accepted. It may take 48 hours for confirmation but does look like Virgin accounts with sort code starting 82 May now be added using the "Add Manually" option

I had to put in the Virgin Money details manually but it worked, though took about 10 days!

@philiplee-woolf   come back here between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. as there is a Weekly Chat with eBay Community Managers, ask your question to them,  as they will give you a more accurate answer and update on whether Virgin Money accounts are viable for an eBay business account.

Hi, no it wasn't a business bank account. I made the comment to forewarn 3dnwood that the confirmation might perhaps take longer than the 48 hours they've been advised it will take - but end result is good.
