I want to give the person buying 2 items that I have for sale a discount for buying both how do I do this? i didnt click accept offers and I have a starting price and a buy it now price. I have had no bids on either item
Well add best offer or amend the start price.
I assume they are the phones, if so 2nd Class Postage is most inappropriate. That covers items up to £20, if you intend posting both together you need Special Delivery with extra insurance, otherwise if lost or damaged, you have to refund the buyer but would be lucky if you got any compensation.
Beware, phones are a scammers magnet and showing you don't understand the postage attracts scammers so be extremely careful with your buyer to avoid being scammed.
If any unusual requests, like being asked for your paypal email, come back here as that would be a very bad sign.
Contact the person via eBay Messages and ask him/her to use the Buy It Now function but ask the buyer to hold off of making payment straightaway so that you have time to prepare the invoice with the discount applied.
When you go to the Sold Items section of your All Selling page tick the boxes next to each item that the buyer has committed to purchasing. Once you have done that click on More Actions next to one of those items in order to pull up the drop-down list and select the option to send the buyer an invoice. All of the items that you ticked will be included on the invoice - revise the postage and packaging costs so that it reduces the total amount payable to the amount that you agreed when you offered the buyer a discount.
Once you have finished setting up the invoice and the costs have been adjusted accordingly send the invoice to the buyer. He/she will then be able to make payment for the items that he/she committed to purchasing at the agreed discount price.
The easiest way would be be to lower one of the BIN prices. But another buyer could swoop in and snatch it out from under this one's nose at that revised price. Or another buyer could make a bid, which would remove the BIN option.
Another way, to avoid those risks and if the discount you've agreed upon is less or equal to the combined shipping cost, would be to send the buyer a revised invoice, with a revised or zero shipping cost to cover the agreed discount, once he's BIN'd both but not paid.
Or you could action a part-refund from the PayPal transaction after he's paid, but you'll be stuck with full Ebay fees. And Paypal no longer refund any part of theirs.
By the way, adding a BIN option to an auction costs you money whether the option is used or not. And as I said above, the BIN option disappears the second a bid is placed. So they are generally a waste of money. It's usually best to start your auctions at the minimum price you're happy to accept.
