There are two issues here, the first is the problem of when a buyer inserts a delivery address that the simply postage system will not recognise. I use to correct these errors when purchasing the postage via the Royal Mail web site and their postcode look up system. However, that route is no longer available. I have recently lost a sale because I had to cancel the sale and contact the buyer for them to correct their address, this they have not done.
I therefore wanted to suggest that E Bay make a change to buyers entering their address whereby it used a postcode look up table to correct any errors in formatting, most common is using a letter "O" instead of a number zero or having no gap between the two sections of a postcode. Thereby dealing with the issue at source. (Postcode is s none editable entry in the address for the seller)
However, when looking how to make a suggestion I learnt that you cannot do so because you might make an intellectual property claim for its use in the future. In my opinion this is a major block to constructive feedback. The simply solution would be a terms and conditions tick box when submitting a suggestion that you wave any future rights to E Bay taking the suggestion up. In that way I would at least be sure that my suggestion was read. What innovations and improvements to business efficiency would be lost if every organisation adopted this approach to user/employee feedback!
