I presume it is the speakers you sold for parts only?

The buyer has taken a chance, thought they could fix them, but they can't so now they are returning them

You won't win this case, this is the big problem with selling items for Spares or Repair, eBay guarantees them a refund if they change their mind, and find out they can't fix them, regardless of what you write in the listing

eBay rules override anything written in the listing, and yes, you marked them as "for parts only" but eBay still allow these items to be returned, I'm afraid.

eBay tend to side with buyers so I'd hesitate to involve them more than you have to.    In any case the buyer will be able to escalate their return to ebay after 3 complete working days.   In the long run it's best to accept the return, even if you have to pay the postage.   Allowing the buyer to escalate will usually only lead to ebay enforcing the refund and that could harm your account.   Occasionally it can also lead to refund without return.

You cannot contest the return or you will lose the item AND your money

Take a deep breath and then send the buyer the return label through the case

If you don't eBay may tell the buyer to keep the item and give them a full refund (from your account).

You have to accept that any buyer can return any item for a full refund when you sell on eBay

If you, the seller escalates the case, the buyer will definitely get a full refund, and won't have to send it back, so whatever you do, do NOT escalate.

As has already been mentioned, don't ask eBay to get involved in this matter.  If you do it will more than likely backfire on you spectacularly, so do as has already been advised - ie:  provide the buyer with an eBay Returns Label and refund his or her money once you receive the item back again.  If the buyer returns something other than the item you sold, or if the item you sold is returned to you in a far worse condition than it was in when you despatched it, then report the buyer to eBay so as to make them aware of the matter.

If you have not already done so by the time you read this reply, make sure that you add the buyer's User ID to your Blocked Bidders List so as to prevent the buyer from purchasing anything else from you in the future and causing you any further aggravation.

Hi, i had a similar experience recently. I did not follow the advice above and my experience was not as described.

I reported the buyer for misuse of the "not as described" money back guarantee. As it didn't tell me how to proceed after making the report i phoned customer service who told me i had to proceed with the return but that anyone who makes the report will get their postage returned.

I know you can't believe much that CS say,  but i just felt good reporting the shyster.
