Inpost has bought Yodel so it will probably be a good service now. This is why Inpost no longer accept Evri parcels which has caused even more problems with drop off places not having enough room

if it wasn't by SD , I 'd still be going to the local post office though. I hate messing them about when they aren't getting the money.

Provided the collection is booked through eBay, not via the Royal Mail website, then there is no charge.

Had a sale and had the ability to get free collection via Royal Mail and selected postie to bring label. Result was parcel wasnt collected. When tried again the 30p charge method was there an the bring a label wasnt so printed label paid 30p and parcel collected. Just had another sale and... free collection offered...not falling for that again.

I asked my local post office and they said they don't get any money for handling the simple delivery parcels. They are considering their options long term and might have to close.

this has been my argument against only having SD option. EBAY SEEM PERFECTLY HAPPY TO HELP KILL OFF LOCAL POST OFFICE which I find disgusting.
My PO used to get loads of EBAY business and it all helps to keep them going, frankly I'm now embarrassed to take SD parcels in, just more work for them for no personal gain.
EBAY SEEM TO BE BLITHELY IGNORING THIS ASPECT ( SURELY THEY MUST KNOW!)
SD may be good for some people but give us a choice!!!
PERSONALLY I WONDER IF ANYBODY HAS THE COMMON DECENCY TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE POTENTIAL EFFECTS OF THIS SHORT SIGHTED POLICY ( FEWER POSTAL OUTLETS) .
SOMEHOW I DOUBT IT VERY MUCH!!

The Post Office have before SD announced the restructuring of the Post Offices announcing the closure of 115 outlets and the promise to double the income of post masters by 2030 amongst other things.
The Post Offices financial problems are not caused by ebay - in reality Post Offices gain from the increase in revenue from online marketplaces.
Whether the Post Office fairly distribute the increase in income is another matter but one which in reality cannot be laid at ebay's doorstep.

Give overI That sounds like corporate flannel to me!
I'm not saying Ebay are totally responsible but they certainly contributing !
I'm talking about small community post offices like ours, on any one day you could see loads of people putting obvious Ebay parcels through, all of which contribute to the output and income of that branch.
Without that income and output sales drop and they are liable to be closed, leaving us in the community losing yet another valuable output.
How on earth do local post offices taking packages benefit in revenue from online market places if the public aren't posting through them.
There was absolutely no reason for Ebay to make SD anything other than optional, I am absolutely furious at yet another case of Corporate big brother running roughshod over the little people!!
