how do you list anything bigger than 61cm?

Ebay is now forcing me into SD with no custom delivery option

The largest postage offered under SD is 61cm

There seems to be no way to list anything over 61cm and get the correct postage, even if you declare the dimensions in the listing height, width etc

anyone figured out what to do or does ebay just want us to take large items elsewhere?

Even eBay know that simple delivery is not fit for purpose, nobody seems to know what's going on! T's & C's state that items listed for simple delivery must comply with the carriers T's & C's. That excludes just about everything as my brother in law has just found out. 6 crystal glasses arrived with the buyer, the package having been run over by a vehicle and with clear tyre marks evident. (Evri of course) claim paid out to buyer under MBG and debited to brother in law's account account. Phoned CS (can't get hold of Evri) and anyway, with so called simple delivery, it's handled by eBay. Was told that Evri don't cover glass or items containing glass so seller to refund buyer.  Glass is only covered by Royal Mail sent by Special Delivery. The point is that you can't list glass with anything other than simple delivery so it's fraudulent if you ask me.

Another poster on another thread put in a claim against Evri, only to be told that the claim was invalid as the item was over 20 years old.

Everytime you speak to CS, they haven't got a clue as to what's going on and it must stink in their offices as they're so full of bullsh*t.

What we need is a full and definitive list of what is EXCLUDED by simple delivery and we need to know if Ebay are buying the postage and selling it on or whether eBay are just agents for the carriers - it makes a huge difference legally if someone decides to take things further.

I'm still listing but sticking to the old adage "don't list what you can't afford to lose"

I didn't see this thread or the solution, so I tried to ask for help with the chat.

Amazingly, somehow I got through the automated FOBot to an actual person.

And they gave this answer, which is in line with the solution here.

Simple Delivery is now the default and only shipping option when listing eligible items. This change took effect on April 15, 2025. But I can give you a work around with pleasure ,first of all please put the item price 1000 GBP the second scroll down to postage and click add primary service ,add the service that you want and the price that you want the buyer to be charged ,a little bit above the postage you have to put the measurements of the item ,please put them 150-50-50 and then go and change the price to the original price that you wanted.

Let's hope they don't "improve" this away.

Hi Guys, so I think you will find this useful as a work-around eBay's Simple Delivery.

Firstly, I would use this only when appropriate (not as a go-to solution for every order). If you can't send via eBay's Simple Delivery due to sizing limitations, or carrier challenges .etc this is a good method.

Secondly, some of you may already know this - it's not my intention to annoy those who already do, it's for people who don't know this.

Thirdly, this works as of the middle of July 2025 - who knows what madness awaits us next month/next week/tomorrow.

---

On Friday/Saturday eBay's "Simple Delivery" was non-functional for me - it just crashed. In the interests of getting orders moved, I simply posted them via Royal Mail myself and messaged the buyer their tracking info. I couldn't mark these orders as dispatched, or add the tracking info, as their system was down, but I have been able to sort this today.

Here's the steps of how to circumnavigate this issue.

  • Having already shipped the items myself and having messaged the customers with their tracking info, I did create the "Simple Delivery" labels.
  • Then, on the order page next to "track package" I can "add tracking".  This is the second drop-down (not the "More Actions" one).
  • I now add the correct tracking information. In my case, for a few minutes, this order has two tracking codes (mine and eBay's Simple Delivery label). The eBay one dropped off automatically over time.
  • Then, to cancel my "Simple Delivery" label I went to:
    www.ebay.co.uk/claims/simple-delivery/refund/seller
  • You have to complete a form and write in your reasoning - this could be that the postage couldn't go in the carrier eBay wanted to use, or the item wasn't something their carrier would cover... or whatever valid reason you think. You should then get a refund within "14 days".

Note, I'm not an eBay representative and am (in fact) an extremely frustrated user, irritated immensely by the recent eBay "improvements"... With this is mind, the above is a suggestion for valid situations only and I am in no position to guarantee eBay's refund system nor what they do/don't find valid.

Customer Service are still touting my workaround instead of getting their system working correctly!

They do nothing and do not care. It is free flow downwards . Not important they will say. Terrible - everytime after upgrading their system it is all pure mess .

how do you list anything bigger than 61cm?

I just tried this trick, but seems it no longer works.  After tricking it to oversized item, the selected primary service does not provide a price and the listing cannot be saved.

EVENTUALLY, I had to select a service (check the actual price, like on Parcel Force), adjusted the listing offer to include posting; and then revised the listing with free post.

It still works ( it is not supposed to show a price) - you choose your own carrier and price for postage and packing which means you are out of simpleton delivery and you are back to how you normally post without involving ebay. It gets you away from the gripe that you cannot add packaging to postage as well.
