Ebay is now forcing me into SD with no custom delivery option
The largest postage offered under SD is 61cm
There seems to be no way to list anything over 61cm and get the correct postage, even if you declare the dimensions in the listing height, width etc
anyone figured out what to do or does ebay just want us to take large items elsewhere?

Err, I said due to legislations, Ebay [and all seller platforms] have to comply. They have to report NI numbers to HMRC. This is because of the massive number of private sellers who are trading. Yes, it is the individual's responsibility to report their earnings, but the fact is they don't. On Ebay, BECASE people have been left to their own devices and to be HONEST and RESPONSIBLE, there is a lot of taxes that have been avoided for far too long. People have been given the choice to register as Private, avoid certain responsibilities as a seller to their buyers, tax evade - and over the past year, exempt from paying seller fees also!
In addition, a lot of these culprits are claiming benefits which are means-tested. OK, I get the odd things that are not strictly 'private' sales - but I am seeing high volume sales of merchandise. So whilst honest business sellers are paying taxes and seller fees, plus having to comply with all DSR's - these others, many of whom are much bigger traders than the smaller Ebay businesses sellers - are enjoying the tax revenue in their own pockets and robbing from the public purse - so I personally am in support of the new LEGISLATIONS. I am not sure, but believe it could also be something that is affecting Ebay globally but certainly it is a legal requirement globally to register their status accurately.
Just because this has been allowed to go on unchecked, people have got complacent and even entitled. You only have to read the comments coming from some Private sellers to see that!! All the threats to 'leave' Ebay and point the finger at them for upsetting their applecart. Fact is, there is nowhere left to run! Even if you can get away with detection, the legislation applies everywhere - all marketplaces; even car boot sales. Ebay are not to blame. They don't want this as it is too much hassle to them. They only want to make profits, so of course they don't want to lose private sellers, who draw in a class of buyers.
Quite honestly, as I am due to retire, I was looking forwards to using my private seller account to make a little pocket money as a lot of pensioners or those on lower incomes do. So I am a little gutted myself!

I wonder how much tax Ebay contribute to the public purse? They've turned it into a hedge fund that needs some serious clipping.

You can't buy a hedge clipper on ebay though without age verification!😁

Where did you get that from or are you just throwing it out there for effect?
Ebay is not a hedge fund. It is a multinational e-commerce corporation that facilitates online consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer sales. Whilst some hedge funds may invest in Ebay's stock as part of their portfolios, Ebay itself is not a hedge fund.
But we know that in general big businesses, the governments, religious organisations, banks, etc etc are all money making machines. And honestly, can you blame them? They are not charitable organisations and there is unfortunately corruption everywhere. However, I don't care what what they do or don't do. I am concerned with what I do and two wrongs don't make any rights... unless you're entitled or have no ethics and merely quote what others are doing to justify your own actions.

To be honest, I am not really concerned that much. All I can say, is I appreciate that for the past 19 years, Ebay gave me a means of living. There have been ups and downs; days when I hated Ebay and days when I have loved it. But the main thing is, it gave me options and I never thought I could run a small business and work for myself. It beats office politics and all the rubbish you get with hierarchies in the workplace - which never suited me. Yes, I know Ebay is full of faults and issues and I have made my share of complaints. And I honestly wonder about their lack of common sense etc at times. As for their AI? It is rubbish!! I have experienced a lot of nonsense and even injustice, but overall, I am grateful for what it has done for me. It has been there for me rain or shine when people in my life have not! As I mentioned before, I am very close to retirement. I will carry on with Ebay but have downsized greatly. It keeps me gainfully occupied and my mind focused and alert and I have also a sense of satisfaction and even pride in what I achieved, given the challenges my life has placed before me.
So hedge funding or not...

I am primarily a business seller and only using a private account to sell off belongings as I am moving. I have not experienced that problem you mention (yet), although at least the buyer is paying the postages. Hopefully this is something Ebay will correct. I used to have the same frustration when I opted to sell using the Global Shipping Programme (I offer 'free' postage). I could never understand why I could not address and reference my packages and put them all into one to send to the GSP to process and distribute, since they replace the labels with theirs, anyway.
I often purchase from the States and for a while, there was no combining of shipping costs when purchasing multiple items from the same seller. Now, this is something that is available. I once did this as the seller was selling stock items I needed, very cheap, but then I had multiple postages to pay, which added up to more than the purchase costs. It frustrated the seller also as these were bulk orders.
There is no doubt Ebay, being a constantly changing entity, also have lots of problems to iron out. I am sure in the future your issue will be resolved. Make sure you register a complain to Ebay. No good just grumbling - the more people complaining, the sooner Ebay will find a way round it.

I can alter the weight on my listing, but how do I alter the dimensions? When I put the price up to 800+ I get custom delivery options. When I save, then go back and amend the price back down my postage automatically charges back to simple delivery.

It's ok i found this now. This works. Thank you.

It is getting to the stage where I will have to stop selling on Ebay. There is no "Custom Postage" option, no way to change Simple Delivery, and even if I enter a higher price and choose my own postage, as soon as I go back into the listing and drop the price to the correct one, Ebay automatically reverts back to Simple Delivery. Ebay has only 4 options - collection, letter, small parcel, medium parcel. There is no other choice on my account for bigger parcels.

Follow my workaround exactly. It is still working.

I was using the 800+ option too until it stopped working.
I gave up trying to list the item, saved it as a draft and carried on with other items. But the strange thing is when I went back to the draft item later in the day the oversize postage option was there.
This was Thursday (10th).
