Ebay are planning to introduce a buyer facing fee in the new year, similar to sites such as Vinted, so there may well be some changes to the fee structure for business sellers going forward especially now that Vinted Pro has launched as they don't charge sellers any fees. Business sellers have already been offered zero final value fees on used clothing until the end of the year.

£524 a month anchor store subscription
selling fees %
standard promotion fees %
pay per click fees %
Discount on items %
buying in costs
this all adds up to an astonishing amount, a very large %
yes i know we can control some of these costs to an extent but just saying, there is only so much money to start with. It is very hard for Business sellers.

There must be millions of private sellers, free to sell is loosing millions in revenue so where is that money going to come from, businesses are paying loads in subscription and fees already and really can not take on any more, it just seems a madness to give away so much or is it a very desperate move ? either way not good for business in terms of competition

This is just part of an eBay long term strategy plan - I think they will start to push private sellers into business contracts sooner rather than later. The threat of HMRC is coming - it will frighten the Bejesus out of many of them & eBay will be there to say : " sign up or be prosecuted".

They are intending to implement some sort of buyer side fee in 2025 I understand. This is similar to what Vinted do apparently.
Also, they no longer do immediate disbursements of funds. Private sellers, if they want to do a disbursement, they have to manually do so. But they can also keep funds in their ebay account to use to spend on ebay, if they wish. Of course if money is not disbursed - ebay are making interest on it sitting in their accounts...
I'm not saying that ebay might lose millions by doing free to sell - but they will have done the maths you hope on the above.

I wish small businesses who do not sell clothes have no fees to pay.

Getting harder all the time, yet when you look at the USA business sellers, they get cheaper shops, and 10,000 free listings.

Yes there are a lot of small businesses struggling now, free to private sellers and free to clothes sellers but nothing for the other businesses it seems, the extra security and help which has been offered recently, means nothing at all to businesses, Ebay takes the side of the buyer, always

Well i am surprised, I am sure this harsh fee structure for uk businesses will loose a lot of small businesses over time and that will result in less individual items to buy which in turn will loose the attraction of the market place.
It will be more like Amazon, but we already have one of those and no market can compete with Amazon can they

I'm lucky enough to benefit from fee free selling in my category for business until the new year. However when it reverts back I'll be struggling to make any sort of profit to make the time spent worthwhile

Have had no sales for 2 days, which is very unusual for me particularly at Halloween
