Re the reduction from Ocober 1st in listings for private sellers.
i am a private seller , selling off a lifetime collection of books on ebay as im downsizing on retirement.
i currently have well over 1000 items listed which dont attract listing fees at the moment because books sell slowly and the fixed price listings roll over from month to month. i long ago finished listing the books in my library , so my ongoing 'new listings' are around 10 items per month or less.
i have two queries;
on october first will my 1000+ listings roll over without incurring listing fees?
Also i am due to go on an extended holiday over the period of the changeover date October 1st and was going to schedule a full months 'time away'. I return in mid /late october. at the end of my time away will my 1000 plus listings be subject to listing fees?
any thoughts would be welcome

Should things that no one has wanted for ten years be on the site? EBay's computers eat electricity storing and serving such junk.

I am a private seller and had around 510 buy-it-now listings. On 30 Sept l closed all but 300 of them on to avoid any charges when they auto-renewed. Having been reassured by the earlier responses to this posting (and my own interpretation of the new rules) that auto-renewed buy-it-now items will NOT count towards my monthly allowance of 300 listings, yesterday l re-listed the 210 l had previously ended.
Now reading the last few responses to this thread (and baring in mind that customer services told me any listings over 300 in total WOULD incur a 35p listing fee) l am worried that when 1 November rolls around and my original 300 listings renew I am going to be hit with charges of 210 x 35p!
Does anyone have a definitive answer?

what business is it of yours how long someone keeps it on e bay? Do not think i have had anything on for 10 years but certainly several years and just recently i have have sold some of them.

Depends i think on how many of the 300 end auto relisting in this month. My experience is that all my auto relists did not count to this months total but any that ended did and i manually re listed did, plus the few new ones i have done.

My listings are all "Good 'Til Cancelled" so l don't think they ever end unless they sell! Fingers crossed.

you would assume that Buy it now is a good till cancelled order -- therefore seems odd that you should relist each month

I'm sure you are right - they wouldn't be auto-relisting each month, but simply carrying on unendingly!

Thank you. Don't know why but I thought the my listings were automatically renewing each month - but of course they simply rolled on until sold.

Buy it nows always auto relists unless you manually end it (but auctions never do). The danger is though, if lots of your items auto relist, you can easily go over the 300 limit and get charged fees.

that is incorrect, apart from a couple of items i only ever do auctions and they do auto relist automatically if you tick the box when you list them.

They haven't updated that guidance yet. When you speak with ebay they tell you that the auto relists of good til cancelled lisings DO count towards the 300.
@vintagetransportmodelsandbooks they all told you the wrong info. Auto renewals DO NOT count towards the 300 allowance. You ended all those listings needlessly. The help page has the correct info.

Hi again everybody,
I just spoke to an incredibly helpful eBay customer service agent called Geraldine. She clarified in very simple terms that as a private seller selling buy it now items that are good 'til cancelled, l will have 300 free listings every month.
I had previously been given misinformation by customer service but this lady absolutely set my mind at rest.
Just to reiterate for anyone who is worried or confused, as long as you are a private seller and you are listing buy it now good 'til cancelled items you will be able to list 300 new items each and every month without any fees.

is there any update on this issue ?
as more confused now than ever !

Hi, I havent seen any updates, but it certainly looks like auto relists dont count towards the 300. I have more than 300 listings and put new ones on but it still shows I have loads left, so I can only conclude that any old listings which auto renew or if you renew them they dont count towards the 300. So I think it is any 'brand new' listings which have 'never been on before' which count towards it. I just wish ebay were more clear about this.

sadly not true my renewals from today have started to be charged 35p per listing ,they have put a 300 listing amout and as you list the numbers come off and when it goes to zero then you get a 35p listing fee, the 1000 promotion closed on the 24th october from the information they have just told me and all now get 300 in a little circle and a countdown to zero ,I had 41 items be relisted, old relistes not new one's,and every one I trided had a fee of 35p and a not that my 300 comes back on november the 1st ,so all must have this now, it's in the account section

can i ask, were they auto relistings ? or ones you had to relist yourself ?
i ask this as still unclear how all this is working out !

Hi, they are autorelists and ones I had ended (fearing I would be charged) and manually relisted when I realised only new 'never been on before listings count.'
If you are on MyEbay selling interface (not the new all selling interface with lists etc) scroll down on your page and you will see a circle that fills up saying how many you have left. I have over 300 on now. But, if you are on the new all selling interface (known as the seller hub, it doesnt show what you have left and also doesnt show you the blue prompt to withdraw your ebay earnings...

all relisted myself , it now looks as if the system is now set for all listings new or old the listing circle in your account gives you 300 listings and new or old just come out until you have zero as soon as it goes to zero each listing is 35pence until the 1st of november and then you get another 300, so if you have 100 item's and list every 10 days you will have to pay for a 100 items as you will be over your 300 and if you list less than ten days you will go through you 300 allowed item quicker , so your selling limits has shrunk as before it was a 1000 per month but that stopped on the 24th october , so it look as if you have lot of items you have pick and choose the listings for the month or pay up as 35p is soon going mount up on top of the other costs , so we sell less or pay out more so sales across the whole platform will shrink on private selling

Manual relists are charged if your limit is reached, auto relists are free and don't come off your 300 monthly allowance.

That is what is happening with me, i only have about 80+ listings on auction and i always tick the auto relist box. The ones that are auto relisted are not taken off the 300 but the one that was up for relisting manually was. Not sure what the confusion is about, i was able to work all that out within a few days of the system starting. Then again i also worked out how to get my money and i am not a genius (and i do understand that some people have had technical glitches).
