Benefits of Simple Delivery

There are several benefits to using Simple Delivery, including:

• You'll be protected if the item is lost or damaged from the point the item is scanned into the carrier's delivery network and until it's marked as delivered
• There are no transaction fees on postage
• Tracking is automatically uploaded to your orders on your behalf
• You don't need to have a printer to use the labels

If the item is posted with the prepaid label provided and scanned by the carrier within your stated handling time, you can also benefit from the following:

• Your seller performance standards and service metrics won't be affected by late deliveries
• You can request the removal of negative or neutral feedback about delivery using Seller Help

Taking into account the above -

So the seller is to be completely covered for loss or damage during " transit" only? ( eBay need to clarify also what is considered loss and/or damage of the parcel! 

Funds held until " considered successful delivery"...

So if there is an issue during transit, AND the buyer has paid a BPF... are eBay saying that the seller refunds the buyer and eBay refund the seller without question! 

But if an issue with the item upon delivery then it is the MBG as the BPF only covers " private sellers funds held"... 24/7 customer service, and encrypted transactions? 

Can anyone clarify any further  understanding?

Ebay have stated that , with Simple Delivery, the seller is covered from the moment the parcel gets accepted by the carrier.  (I know that's kinda hard to believe, but it's in the 'new rules'!)

Yes, it is " kinda hard to believe"  Evris exclusion list is so massive that the only thing it would allow me to post that I'm currently selling is a tie. What happens if it doesn't arrive? There will be no successful delivery which is necessary for payment. What will I actually be covered for? Interesting times ahead and I think ebay may have bitten off more than it can chew!

NO, And it's given me a headache trying to work it out!

The customer service team on the helpline can barely deal with simple queries; they are never going to cope with the issues that arise from the new system. I hope ebay are going to give them a massive training programme.

Headache for me too - to the point I cannot be bothered anymore buying/selling and reading " terms"... ... it is far too much hassle to " comprehend" and nothing " simple" about it. 

As far as I can see it just opens a can of worms for private sellers on so many levels - eBay have shown their hand by instigating these new " rules" without any consultation,  in basically informing everyone that we are not to be trusted... how very kind... Not! 

For sure, we are not children and we are not their employees and yet are being treated as such.

I agree with you and spoke to someone at Ebay yesterday to confirm a few things, waste of time really!

But I did let him know that I'm an adult, can manage my own account, take care of my own money and don't need constant monitoring from Ebay idiots. Also said I don't agree with them keep changing procedures every few months just to *bleep* me off.

They do not care though.......

I have thought for a long time that Ebay treats sellers like employees.  Now we can't be trusted to make adult decisions about how we manage our sales.

thinking of doing the same once i can get my head around how it works, i took a look a couple of days ago and was completely confused but will try again.  I had trouble understanding e bay to begin with (and it was a damn sight simpler back then)

How pray tell do they confirm delivery?  when you receive Feedback? or click mark as despatched this is a scam and they are going to lose customers.

Although if it doesn't affect business accounts would I be better of getting one of these? I only trying to sell of my old comics for space etc.

Lol. Yes they do open every call saying that but do little for sellers.
They need to remember without sellers there'd be no eBay & they'd be out of
work. I'll be calling them again to today to ask why they have marked a
delivery that's being returned to as delivered back to me? It hasn't & RM
tracking shows it's not. Xx

Items have to be sent tracked via their 'simple delivery' which doesn't look as if it will be simple at all. Either by Royal Mail tracked or Evri tracked. The tracking is the delivery confirmation and if you send untracked you'll have to wait 2 weeks for payment after you marked the item as sent. Ebay are hoping a lot of private sellers will convert to business accounts - this will cost you more. There are of course a lot of private sellers who are running their account as a business and I think ebay should pin these down (but not in this way).

And you might be better looking at other selling sites for your comics such as delcampe or Etsy which specialise in vintage comics. Ebay has become a site for brand new items and Chinese copies.

Sometimes you can get some really good deals though.  I actually work in the IT industry and can pretty 100% confirm they can easily get any information from any EBay Seller regarding purchases above a certain amount or if you need to pay Tax.  

Think they've set themselves up to get sued to be honest

Agree; think you probably need to try a few items on other sites and see how it works for you, but it is a pain having to learn how a new site works; I've got very 'comfortable' with ebay although the number of recent changes is really irritating and unnecessary. Niche markets are difficult and I'm sure you have a number of customers who keep you as a 'favourite seller' and buy from you more than once. I've decluttered and almost finished selling (although there will always be a few bits) so not too sad about ebay. I do feel sorry for those selling 'to make ends meet' - they will struggle to pay upfront for postage and wait for payment.

my main issue will be who pays the cost of the padded envelope, box and other items to post a buyers items.....i set my own postage prices to cover this so 2nd class large letter £1.55 and i charge £1.80 to cover the other postage costs

it seems ebay things we should charge exactly what it costs for the postage only not packaging which means i would have to add the cost onto the main items price as well as the fees buyers will have ontop...not worth selling

So if it's an auction which goes up from the starting bid, the postage cost will change?

When I list an item if it goes to a higher price than expected I may pay more to insure the package during transit, but the amount comes out of my additional profit - I don't suddenly ask the buyer to pay a higher postage fee than I've advertised.

i was to list my coaster and badge collection, sell individual for about £3 to £3.50 as they are not worth more really

and was going to charge the £1.80 as thats most people want to pay for postage for a item so cheap.

total cost would be £5.30 if i sell for the dearer price

with the new charges and cheapest tracked postage that makes the total cost for the buyer  £7.09

and thats if i do not even add a bit extra to the items cost for padded envelope etc which i will do as it means even less money for me

but no way would i sell anything with the total cost with fees etc so no point really.

if i took the fees off the buyer and reduced my selling price that i want to compensate that means id get about £2.60...but again the buyer still needs to pay the extra £1 for tracked delivery so still wouldn't work.

there just is no way around it for me to make it ok to sell on ebay.

and as a buyer on ebay its the same...makes no difference if the price i see is the price i will pay because to me it will still look more expensive than i want to pay with the fees added and dearer postage lol
