Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone

That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye

We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

Yes same here - 21 years and mostly good. I’m very sad but this is the last
straw.
Always enjoyed taking parcels to our lovely local Post Office. The idea of
standing and faffing with QR codes for each parcel or standing at Lockers
(often a queue or full) in the wind, rain or cold does not appeal to me.
So it is with a heavy heart that I will be ending all my listings on Sunday.
I am not going to lie, I am really going to miss my lovely little eBay
hobby.

It is what I read about simple delivery. If using the ebay label which is due to be compulsory the seller has to send within 2 or 3 days of order date.

Yes now I see why they started doing free listings!!!  A big change.  I sell dvds for 99p plus postage no one is going to buy now with an extra 75p + 4%. Also I dont do tracking for them!!!  so thats done now.   Also if tracking is used for more expensive items it often doesnt show delivered so thats a pain as well.

24hrs after tracking confirms delivery is already 48hrs after I would be prepared to wait for payment when selling camera lenses etc (I post RM Special Delivery). I would not send anything of value until I had received the money. As a result, I will no longer sell unwanted lenses or audio gear (any gear really) via eBay. Id rather take a bit more of a hit and trade it in when buying something new.

As i understand it you will get the funds after 14 days regardless of delivery confirmation.  Anyone know??

That's what it says in the T&Cs

Untracked items and items where there is no delivery confirmation eBay will release funds after 14 days unless buyer opens a case

This is all part of a scheme and the likes of Royal Mail are in on it aswell. Ebay used to be a fun place where you could relive the past. I remember my first purchase was for a bundle of Star Wars figures way back in 2000 and I was hooked. Now it is just daylight robbery at its finest.

Withholding our money whilst making interest with it, getting rid of PP system and so on. Ebay is dead.

The one thing that really annoys me is whenever you go on live chat etc the agent always says 'thanks for a being a member for 25 years' how condescending does that sound. I know they share just agents but I ask them not to say it to me anymore because I find it insulting. All the money I have put their way and still they choose to take a dump on people.

This is going to hit resellers really bad IMO, especially those who go to car boots etc and do it to put food on the table as a way on earning a living as a business seller.

This will only affect private sellers, resellers/business sellers will not be affected.

Yep, but they will soon find a way to stitch up resellers. Just by doing this, the buyers will no longer choose Ebay which will cause issues for business sellers etc.

It will have a huge knock on effect.

just looked into fb marketplace as an option and they do not pay people for 15 days after the sale, not sure if that is correct or not, i understand being mad at ebay for making changes but i dont think switching to marketplace is necessarily the answer here

Facebook marketplace you deal direct with the buyer so you would normally
get payment before sale or when item is being collected.

"buyer protection" (which of course buyers already have under consumer law)

They don't have consumer protection when buying from private sellers

Consumer protection only applies to business-consumer purchases

eBay buyer protection was additional protection given by eBay, it does not exist in law

Buyers who buy from private sellers have very limited protection in law.

For example: Private sellers are deemed to have delivered items to the buyer the moment they hand them to the carrier. If the item gets lost the buyer has no case for a refund from the seller (but can claim from the courier for their loss). There are other limited protections regarding minimal protection from dodgy/misleading descriptions too but otherwise the rule is Buyer Beware when buying from private sellers.

Payment before the buyer decides to buy the item?  That's good!

I could live with the 14 days wait but not being forced to use ebay for delivery.

This is their typical devious rhetoric speak. You know which generation has been coming up with this sh1te for the past years.

What this essentially means is that the seller will end up paying the fees.
Why?

Well because the market exists beyond the ebay platform, therefore all items sellers on ebay list will become 4% +75p more expensive than elsewhere.
If you wish to sell to an ebay buyer, then you must lower your selling price retrospectively.

See how it works. You the seller then are effectively covering the ebay 'buyer' fee with your loss.

Open your eyes people.
Time to leave ebay behind, permanently.

Well that's me done selling on eBay.  There is absolutely no way I'm sending an items BEFORE I receive the funds for it, not a chance.  eBay, you have mucked up big style as I wont be the only one.
