Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone

That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye

We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

I’ve been on eBay since October 2000 and selling since 2004.
I have now sold my last items on eBay and I will remove outstanding listings at end of January.

As for buying and paying a 4% (plus 75p) buyers fee  what exactly?
I don’t do this on Amazon.

Its commercial suicide surely?

Buyer Beware when buying from private sellers.

Not my experience - its buyer beware from any seller including businesses on this online platform...

Where there is a "scam" it doesn't matter whether private or business particularly those who are masquerading... there are many  REGISTERED dodgy unprofessional businesses on eBay, likewise there are many PRIVATE sellers who are honourable.

Also - judging by many of the comments on here ( let alone eBays " implementations") it should be

" Sellers beware of selling"

Edit - spelling and to add regarding " protection".... consumer or otherwise - it does not always go in favour or where it should rightfully , a bit like innocent until proven guilty.

'I could live with the 14 days wait but not being forced to use ebay for delivery.'

Yep, with you here. I'm very fortunate in not having to rely on money from ebay  to pay bills etc (just as well as I've sold £34.70's worth - 2 sales- in the last 10 weeks!) so having to wait doesn't worry me either.

But I'll have to stop if I no longer able to sort out my own postage.

Noticed a number of people concerned about Ebay postage. What is the
problem? Their Royal Mail prices are standard and some, like Yodel and
Inpost are cheaper than shown on some other parcel sites.

so what difference would it make to a pseudo private seller anyway?   People keep saying this but maybe i am just being thick but apart from holding the money for a bit longer they will still be selling their thousands of items under false pretense.

you can at the moment but when they bring in mandatory simple delivery (as stated by the CEO last year) that will change, which is why i will be departing the site.

Completely agree with it should be "sellers beware of selling"...!

Ebay really don't have the sharpest tools in the box working for them these days,do they?

If I have to shove my prices up to cover "signed for/tracked" deliveries it means i'll probably sell less which in turn means i'll spend less on ebay.

Can somebody please explain that to ebay's boffins for them...cheers.

eBay haven't given a XXXX about private sellers for at least the last 11 or 12 years.

That is not my experience. I have had sales refunded because buyers said that they had not received and I could not provide tracking as it was only 2nd class untracked. I could provide proof of posting but that was not sufficient to prevent a refund.

Will it be the same for international deliveries?  If we send something to Australia, will we still need to wait until two days after delivery?  Sometimes it takes over a month to send internationally, even using global shipping program.

Can anyone recommend a good ebay alternative?

It's not really about the price of the postage options : it's more about the reliability of the different services that we will no longer have the choice between.....

Have a look at post 132 on the 'Should I stay or should I go' thread.. (sorry too tired to write it out again!)

If you are sending via GSP then the payment will be released 2 days after delivery to the UK hub.

Happened to me recently, had to apply for compensation with the post office and they sent me 8 first class stamps as compensation.

I totally agree with you on what you say.

We will not be dictated to as to how/with whom  we post our items.

This happened to me.  I wasn't happy with postage stamps I was unlikely to use so I contacted them using an email address I spotted on their letter (contact so and so if you're unhappy with our response kind of thing.  I pointed out that they advertise compensation cover being available (up to £20 for ordinary mail, £150 for tracked) with proof of what I had to repay the buyer, layed it on a bit thick, and they duly sent me a cheque for the amount I'd refunded to the buyer.  I've done this two or three times now and will never settle for stamps.

True but look on the bright side you will at least get more views in an hour then you will do in a month here.

pay your entrance fee that is it.

And you will more than likely sell more in a day than a month here as you can play more with your Prices and still leave meat on the bone here on eBay they want all the meat and leave you with the bone.

We are Getting Rid any stock below a Tenner soon will be fifteen Pounds at eBay's Rate of extortion.

Cant wait till Spring load up the Luton and sell the lot and go back to removals earn more in an hour then here.

It Was fun for many Many years When I started it was 6% FVF postage was half the price it is now eBay,Royal Mail and all the couriers have just got far too Greedy.

We sellers do all the Work and greed bay earn more then we do,Time for us to run Down stocks and throw in the towel .It just is not worth the blood sweat and Tears anymore.

Like must of us Oldie Hardcore sellers  20+ Service here on eBay.

Its us that Made eBay Into something worth selling on a platform Built on Trust and Honesty ( Past Tense )

We never needed Rubbish Tracked we sent things low and High value with trust and faith 99.9% of the goods Arrived on time No Problems at all if we Had Problems We sellers Dealt with it in a timely Manner.

We did Not want or need eBay taking full Control of our Business Like Managed returns.

eBay and only eBay Have destroyed their own Site and as they say you reap what you sow and believe me eBay the seeds are Weeds.

I am on the true Private Sellers Side Here as I started Many Moons Ago as a private seller so know the Fun of selling your Old Unwanted Goods , That's till I ran out of stuff to sell so Had to Buy goods to sell hence why I am a Business Seller and have been for many,Many years

You can see a Mile away a Business Masquerading as a private Seller and remember the simple rule if you brought it to make a profit you are a business and it dont matter if its new or Vintage you Brought it to make a profit so should be declared.

I have said it many times in Past Posts Trust works both ways eBay!!

So you dont trust the seller to send the goods hence they have to wait for funds till the couriers deliver way out of a sellers control.

To the CEO of eBay,please take the time to do a weeks work selling on eBay just to see the life we sellers have!! Then and only then you may and I say May just understand what we sellers are saying.

The site was started for community to Community selling now you just want wholesalers sellers selling Chinese Junk The Auctions stopped working Years ago as soon as People could snipe.

That was The Auctions side of Business Finished  Just look at Auctions out of 200 Maybe 2 or 3 are Selling per page.

So to the Private sellers doing Auctions Why do you Bother just sent your Price and do Buy It now if you want a little Bit more Up the Price add Best Offer and settle for What you wanted anyway.

Good Luck to all of you for 2025, We Here at Scarlets247 wish you all The very Best for the Future what ever you decide may see you on the river if that's where you are Selling.

Agreed, bye-bye ebay. Looks like they are committing suicide. They have clearly lost the plot or it is now being run by a bunch of *bleep* directors who have no clue. Watch their listings take a nose dive from 4th February. I sell watches up to a value of £7500 and I obviously never send until paid. This is normal practise employed by sellers of high value items not just watches and only delays sending by 24 hours or often much less as ebay transfers are quick. I will not sell watches and the risk getting paid two days later as it is a scammers/fraudsters charter. But I guess the idiots at ebay have not worked this out. So all my watches will be unlisted 3rd February and listed on Chrono24 other items will be listed on  Amazon as it is the world's largest online marketplace.
