Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone

That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye

We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I'm pretty sure I said "Customer feedback and proof of delivery" in my post and off memory customer feedback was deemed sufficient for items valued less than £10.

If there have been any updates today I haven't seen them yet.

"is not the netherlands where most of the scams come out from?" - Certainly not aware of any but if you have please enlighten me.  Banking is strictly regulated in EU countries.

Just for information: Adyen may be little known but they are one of the biggest banks facilitating businesses to accept point of sale, mobile, and e-commerce payments with customers throughout these sectors such as Facebook, Tesla, Uber, Netflix, Spotify, Airbnb, plus many more and is a much larger company than either Stripe or PayPal.  It is likely you have been making payments through Adyen, other than from eBay, for years.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

"I have a vague memory the new managed payment timeframes were to do with the delivery side"

That's ok. I got it into my head that 'managed payments' should have come in WITH the BPFs, as in 'Ebay manages, so Ebay pays out if/when things go wrong'. There's no obvious rationale or reason for keeping sellers' payments if Ebay is not providing the protection.

Unless of course Ebay is still providing exactly the same service for FREE in those categories where it hasn't yet started explicitly being charged as an extra? It's them what makes all the rules, after all.

Yes, positive feedback will be accepted for untracked items under £10 but this probably won't be live until nearer the end of February:

'We’ve also heard your feedback and understand that shipping costs are particularly top of mind for low price items. When you’re selling a single item for £10 or less, and it’s sent untracked, funds will now be available 24 hours after you receive positive buyer feedbackThis will be live by the end of February.'

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I sold an item for a fiver. The buyer has left positive feedback but eBay are still not releasing my funds because I didn't send the item tracked. I can survive without that fiver but it's the principle of eBay holding on to MY money even though the buyer is totally happy which is infuriating.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

There's no good/nice reason. But it's just an extension of Managed Payments which we've been accepting at least since they stopped using PayPal.

So even without an exact timeframe, as in the 14 days they've been telling us, they probably still had plenty of wriggle room in their last T&C. They could probably have done it to individuals without notifying anyone.

But again, my mind isn't that active right now. Dog tired.

Yeah, someone else replied to me on this. It's a recent post, I'd guess around 860. Looks like they cp'd the official announcement. Memory says end of February, but I'm almost out on my feet.

& yes, we know why you aren't happy. Not many of us are.

It's certainly not happening yet. I've just had a 'chat' with eBay and two separate customer service people didn't mention this to me. I've sold an item for a fiver and the buyer has left positive feedback.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I've never personally called eBay CS, only ever used chat to date but from what I've been reading on these threads it seems that they don't all know what they're talking about. To the point where people suggest calling at a specific time so you can speak with Dublin. Guess they must be the best.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

This new system is annoying. I'm due my first set of payments tomorrow, I'm interested to see if eBay will give the money minus the postage for that particular item or whether they will clear all the postage I paid through eBay.

My payment screen reads as

Total funds: £69.16

eBay balance: -£20.05 (eBay post)

Pending: £89.21

Regarding the tracked post thing. I send loads of stuff as large letters, untracked. However I am getting delivery confirmations on 99% of those large letters. So I'm not feeling pushed to send everything tracked.

Small parcel with the Royal Mail do give delivery confirmation, just no stage by stage tracking. Yodel aren't bad either, parcels under 1kg are much cheaper than the RM and that gives full tracking.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Ok, thanks. It used to be overnight and now it's up to 14 days, so a big difference. I don't mind as the values are low (higher value inevitably means tracked delivery). I'm not reliant on the money coming in.

@patrcl-8083  The positive feedback 'trigger' for payment is earmarked for end of February and there's no reason for Ebay to sit on small values for so long (bigger ones attract more interest). Not sure how much Customer Service can do for you before the changes come in. But at least you got a buyer to leave feedback, which most sellers would say is the hard bit. Plenty don't.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

What is interesting is that neither of the customer service people with whom I was 'chatting' mentioned the changes coming in at the end of Feb. I'll have my fiver by then in any case, but it's useful to know for future reference.

I think that buyers who are also private sellers may well be more inclined to leave feedback because they will realise that sellers will then get their money a lot sooner. That would be nice!

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

As far as I’m concerned this is the most stupid thing eBay has ever done in
my 22 years or so.

I listed a book ( just out of interest to see what the buyer would see) the
price I listed was £13.99 when visiting the site to view item (not logged
in the the price had increased to over £15.00 ) my increase in price to
send recorded signed for.

I’m pretty sure eventually everyone will increase their prices to cover
extra postage cost and buyers will vote with there feet and go elsewhere.

Surly IF ALL sellers stopped listing from a certain date eBay would reverse
this madness !!! Nothing listed NO income for eBay.

Perhaps if stuck together they might when they see their suicidal mission
fail????

Shame EBay was a great online market

I’m gonna miss it ….

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Looks like vinted is fierce  competition so they’re copying their business model BUT yes it is stupid because ebay can’t drag sellers off vinted or buyers as the rest of their system is sooooo laborious and super time consuming and very restrictive and NO VIEWS compared to vinteds super fast super easy buying and selling and lots of visibility and likes

dang!! And duh!!

Vinted has its problems as anywhere though but nothing like the car crash here

I don’t know any other platform that charges buyers these stupid fees

ebay and vinted only

But  vinted have the upper hand

hope ebay didn’t pay millions in consultancy fees lolololol

Who's going to make a buyer leave feedback? Buyers simply want their goods
and once they got them it job done.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I can understand this new format ., seller gets paid after buyer receives item / items .

Seller , ships goods faster  with a more secure shipping option , has a shipping / number code / tracking number .

Seller as confirmation of delivery.

Seller as payment released.

This is a good format that should of be standard from the start .

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

We all know that couriers don't register all deliveries & buyers don't
leave feedback and that means the buyer has no means of proving delivery.
There's no sellers protection. The buyer gets the goods, the courier gets
shipping, eBay hold funds making interest & the seller gets nothing for the
property they owned. eBay writes sellers shouldn't request feedback from
buyers & I agree because I have on occasions left negative feedback against
sellers who constantly bombarding me with annoying feedback requests even
before the new rules. Sellers are giving their goods away
