Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone
That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye
We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

I have been very much in two minds about leaving eBay. It was certainly my first reaction. I will likely leave my account open and take the vast majority of my listings down, possibly leaving a token handful of items up but not ones I expect to sell, just to keep it active until the dust settles. Then we will see - but I can't see my selling activity being as high as it has been (which is not that high, really, compared to some.)

Ahh, so you can 'spend' the money that is held until confirmed delivery (or 14 days). Then it has absolutely nothing to do with giving additional 'buyer's protection'. The real issue for anyone with even a sprinkling of intelligence is that we know the introduction of buyer's fees is purely about profit for ebay (by getting interest from 'held' money and by encouraging people to use their funds to purchase from ebay). The "reasons" given by ebay for introducing buyer's fees are just plain dishonest and I think that's what really irks a lot of people here.

Yes.
'Spin'. Business-bullsh**. Ebay-speak. Advertising exec. speak. Banks being 'by your side', but they'll throw you under the bus without a thought if it looks good to the shareholders...
Companies learn how to state that Black is actually White (without being sued) in order to con as many poor fools as possible.
Yeah, I know I'm just 'old-woman-shouting-at-clouds' but, boy, there's some bits of the modern world that I hate....😠

Why are they even saying that??
They know damn well that most sellers have only increased their dispatch window to try to outwit ebays totally inaccurate delivery dates, but post earlier. What's the point of having ANY maximum handling time when ebay take no notice of whatever the seller decides and STILL tells the buyer that their purchase will arrive Next Day or the day after whatever handling time the seller selects?
It's quite clear to me that although I have 2 day dispatch and RM 2nd Class postage, giving me and my buyers anything up to 5 working days for delivery, which they are happy with and have left plenty of FB mentioning "Quick Delivery". Ebay will ONLY be satisfied when it gets what it's wanted for years.
@theelench that was the first thing I thought when I saw this announcement yesterday about Shipping Speed filters.
If eBay is concerned that buyers are turned off by not seeing delivery timeframes that are fast enough for them, in many ways that's a self-inflicted problem as many sellers have added additional handling time to try to give themselves leeway to account for the fact that eBay's EDDs are so inaccurate.
Instead of playing games with search filters and mandates and the like, maybe they should start with address the very real long-standing problems with those inaccuracies.

Thats exactly why we extended it to 5 days to avoid defects for possible late delivery.
Our feedback often mentions how quickly the buyer has received their item 🙂

I had not seen that announcement, thank you for flagging. Good grief, they are really applying the whip in the hope us private sellers will row faster - shame so many are jumping ship. It really does seem that while they may want private sellers on the site, they are expecting us to sell exactly as if we are businesses. We aren't. Private sellers fit post office (Evri now?) visits in between actual full time jobs, it's not feasible to assume we can visit daily to suit eBay - it's not even the buyers, they should see REAL delivery EDDs and choose accordingly. Sometimes buyers message me to ask for quicker turnaround if they are in a hurry, I can usually accommodate them but would not want to make promises I could not keep just to get more visibility. Ebay is messing around more than usual, I see glitches, lower sales, unhappy customers (both buyers and sellers) and senior staff golden handshakes on the horizon.

Not sure about the senior staff golden handshakes. I see ebay no long being the go-to place to sell and buy; the lower sales and unhappy private sellers may tip the balance. If enough jump ship, the ship may sink.

Someone once messaged me as he said he should have recd the item according to ebays expected delivery, I pointed out that I hadn't even posted it yet! And then had to explain to him about the stupid expected delivery dates that Ebay use and told him to ignore them in ffuture. Wasting my time again.....

I agree with everything you say, except about the directors handshakes.
They're already paid millions p.a and will without doubt have negotiated them in accordance with what they think they're worth, so it'll be Platinum Handshakes all round. Then they'll scurry off to their next board-room job that their mates have lined-up for them so they can apply their vast experience of how to run things badly, squeezing their customers dry and reducing sales on a yearly basis.

I think I'm right in saying that the last time I looked the earliest expected delivery time was the next working day after the sale - two days before my 'dispatch by' date! I mentioned this during a telephone call with eBay - they pretty much dismissed my concern. You are right, it is a total waste of time. I am forever keeping track of my items now, counting how many are yet to be delivered and breathing a sigh of relief when they are. It's too much stress, edging ever further toward quitting.

I suggest you have a closer look.

@23sandlane - @papso22 is correct, see how it is indented under the previous option? That means it is a subset of that option/only applies to that option, if that makes sense.
Since the option is to apply "this limit" to buyers with whatever feedback score chosen from the drop down menu - you have to ask yourself what "this limit" means there.
The indentation is what shows you "this limit" is referring to the part above it about blocking sales of multiple items to a single buyer.
There is no way to block a zero feedback buyer from buying a single item.

Sold an item for over £580 on Sunday.
Posted Monday via special delivery for prior to 1pm next day delivery.
Arrived with buyer prior to 10am next day.
Tracking shows signed for and picture of item being handed over.
ebay sold record shows as still in transit - dispatched.
So under new rules I would still be waiting to get my money from eBay!
This is why I plan to give up selling when new rules start.

For an item of that value I believe it would be worth contacting ebay cs to update their tracking.
15-01-2025 5:07 PM
Why?
I have money for sale in my bank account.
I have Royal Mail tracking showing signed for plus picture.
Buyer has left positive feedback saying item is perfect.
Under new system I would be chasing my money via eBay CS.
I have no plans to be in that position and after 21 years I will give up selling.
