Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone

That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye

We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

The expanded simple delivery programme isn't published ebay policy yet but something the ebay CEO said at a meeting with investors.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Hmm something else that will not work for us.

We say 5 days to post but usually post within a day or two.    We have a lot going on in real life at the minute so set our shipping at 5 days just in case.   We cannot guarantee to post within 2 or 3 business days 😞

"You should aim to send your item within 2 business days to ensure that buyers receive their order quickly and we're able to estimate the delivery date accurately. You can select a maximum handling time of 3 business days"

That is the current Simple Delivery - @23sandlane

It was discussed by the CEO that it would become " compulsory" for private sellers.

There are plenty of threads on here discussing it.

I think @valueaddedresource  covers quite a bit, so you may find more information if you search.

@23sandlane   you can read the full statement from the CEO with links to the transcript and replay of the Q3 earnings call where he said Simple Delivery will be mandatory here:

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Thank you.
As an 80-year old my sales are the postcard collection I've made over the
years and books, so I usually use Royal Mail anyway, although I will regret
not being able to use Yodel.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Are they pulling that **** on business sellers?  It's asking a lot of private individuals when many big businesses don't even guarantee those shipping times.  They really don't want private sellers on the platform anymore other than as a gateway to opening a  business account with them.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

So basically if you pay £27 per month to be a business seller everything stays as normal and how it used to be? You sell, get paid, ship and then leave feedback?

Or am I missing something?

No as you will have a final value fee to pay on each sale

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

Your missing the FVFs that business sellers have to pay. The rate varies depending on the category, I was paying 30p to list (no Shop) plus 11.9% in FVFs and then VAT was added on top of it all. Got so fed up being shafted that I've given it all up.

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I presume you add your tracking number to the item as usual.   Once it shows as delivered you get paid 2 days later.   IF the tracking does not update or you send item untracked then its 2 weeks.

Half the time my tracking with RM does not update on Ebay but when i go to RMs track and trace site it says delivered with a photo.

We will be heavily reliant on the tracking updating properly between RM and Ebay.

It seems that if, 14 days after posting, the buyer hasn't complained
payment will be released.

Why are they even saying that??

They know damn well that most sellers have only increased their dispatch window to try to outwit ebays totally inaccurate delivery dates, but post earlier.  What's the point of having ANY maximum handling time when ebay take no notice of whatever the seller decides and STILL tells the buyer that their purchase will arrive Next Day or the day after whatever handling time the seller selects?

It's quite clear to me that although I have 2 day dispatch and RM 2nd Class postage, giving me and my buyers anything up to 5 working days for delivery,  which they are happy with and have left plenty of FB mentioning "Quick Delivery".  Ebay will ONLY be satisfied when it gets what it's wanted for years.

Same Day despatch and Next Day delivery by a Tracked service and by hook or by crook  that is what they will get with this latest scam.  Sellers refused to increase prices to cover the extra cost, exacerbated by ebay's skimming part of postage charged.

So ebay shift the cost to the buyers.  No doubt ebay will knock a penny or two off the over-the-counter price to make it look good but neither the buyer or the seller will be let into the secret of how much it actually costs ebay to buy the label.  Ker-ching.

About the only thing left that a private seller can decide for themselves is how much to sell their property for and I bet ebay is already working on some plan to push its nose into that as well.

Perhaps ebay will try selling it as the next amazing improvement, ebay doing a comparison with "Similar" sold items and telling the seller what their "best" price would be to maximise the possibility of a sale?

I can see it now "Tell us what you're selling and let A.I do the rest.  We'll send the sales proceeds direct to your ebay wallet a few weeks later (if we can't think of any reason to hang onto them for longer)."

Write to Jamie at ebay.com (obv @)with ALL your concerns/queries on these new procedures.

I did and received a phone call from one of his colleagues regarding my queries, it was helpful to be able to voice my concerns to a real person at least!

Agree. Completely 'broken' by ebay's latest changes.  Not happy with the way they are treating their sellers - it's just too controlling and unacceptable. I don't think they understand the UK market and psyche. I will be looking into selling elsewhere (or not at all)

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I think you've hit the nail on the head. They don't want private sellers and this latest move seems to be a test as to whether many private sellers will move to be business sellers (where ebay are scooping up a lot more profit). I will be keeping my account open but probably un-used as I have no doubt there will be changes further down the line. A lot of people here have said they will leave ebay, but will they?

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

'......They don't want private sellers.....'

Well, that's what it looks like, but apparently they *do* want private sellers! (in one of the speeches to the shareholders by the CEO, he mentioned that private sellers who also buy  were among the most valuable customers of ebay...)

So they do want private sellers, they just don't want us to take our money *out* of ebay- hence the 14 day hold (unless you use more expensive tracked postage).

They're hoping that ; if you need to buy something within those 14 days, and that's where your money is (and you can't take it out) well, you'll have to buy it from ebay won't you?

Or your money is sitting there so you are just tempted to spend it before taking it out....

I think ebay are hoping to keep a lot more money circulating within the site, which makes the figures look great for the shareholders....

Re: Your funds will be available for payout once we receive delivery confirmation

I have long been annoyed by the expected delivery dates given by eBay.   I now have a standard disclaimer in my listings pointing out that Royal Mail treat an item as missing 10 working days after posting it.  I ask buyers to wait that long before contacting me, but the one time a parcel went missing the buyer still contacted me once eBay's delivery date passed (which is much sooner than 10 working days).   What can you do?  (I managed to sort it out with the buyer who gave me positive feedback)
