Hi I've just received this message contacted ebay and is being sent to everyone
That's me I'm done no more ebay for me bye bye
We are making changes to the way we process payments on eBay. Going forward, we’ll make your funds available for payout within 48 hours after we’ve confirmed delivery of the item. Until then, you’ll see a “hold” on your funds. This process helps keep our marketplace safe.

I have no idea where you are getting your info from but it can't be from Ebay's procedures 🤔

No it never is from post office just proof of posting slip as I said

That didn't work for me the last time I tried - the tracking page on RM just said it was not available for letters sent without tracking paid for. If you send a parcel without tracking you can get confirmation of delivery IF the postie scans the item, but I find it better to pay for a tracked service. Track 48 is currently on 14 pence more than ordinary post if you buy online. Well worth it.

Remember, ebay isn't interested in little fish like you & me, they're making all their money from the business accounts. ebay has been awful towards sellers ever since (and probably before) it removed the ability for sellers to leave neg FB. The amount of times I've attempted to be screwed over by buyers is crazy.

But isn’t the concern that the simple delivery mechanic is going to remove the choice of postage offered from the seller?
e bay will offer the services to the buyer and they will choose? Or have I misunderstood?

That's what I understand. I often send things by Yodel as the drop-off shop is a short walk and no queue. The owner of my local shop says he may have to close as a major part of his earnings is the courier service and most of the parcels are ebay. Now I will always have to go to the Post Office (which takes Evri parcels) which will mean driving and where the queue is often half an hour long. No-one here has pointed out that couriers other than Evri will be badly affected by ebay's changes - it may cause massive job loss.

Perhaps the other courier companies didn't offer ebay a good enough deal?
It may also be that the courier base for simple delivery will expand in the future.

Who says they will all be Evri parcels ?

I like that.... If I was going to still be selling with these new rules I would def be putting a note on the bottom of my description about the disadvantages of the new "ebay" for private sellers and their buyers!

Apparently not 😉

and if anything like me and get round to leaving feedback once a month
then thats how long you wait for your money
ebay getting more and more like amazon every day
might as well save yourself some promotion money and just sell on amazon
at least on amazon it it easier to see what your competition is selling at and you can match their prices with the click of your mouse or go lower
ebay was originally based on trust
shame ebay dont show the uk seller any

Just one question - IS IT LEGAL under UK Law ?

You are a registered business seller. The new buyer fee and simple delivery feature won’t affect you …. Well not in the near future.

so are ebay going to contact the customer direct on every sale?
i sell petrol garden tool parts mainly carburetor service kits
and some of my items are niche and my product ie: i am the only person in the world that sell this item
and i designed it and have it made for me i also hold the patton for it
and will not fit any other item
so the customer can ONLY come to me for this item
so it is down to me to replace this item if it does not arrive in the post
do you still intent to hold my money back?
12-01-2025 11:51 AM
The changes won't affect you as a business seller. The money hold is on private sellers cash flow.

Hi, eBay are holding the funds for two days after delivery confirmation as I understand it. This enables the buyer to do whatever they want with it for two days then request a return if they want. All this time, the seller receives no payment. It opens the door to many types of poor buyer behaviour (as I’m told is the case on Vinted) and potentially makes selling more risky on eBay. I would like to know if the buyer is responsible to paying the return postage charges (as is the case on Vinted) or if the seller has to cover these (as currently the case on eBay). If it’s the latter then I think many sellers will lose money.
I think it’s a shame eBay are making this change as I think sellers may leave sadly 😞
