I had recently not sold anything for over a week so thought i would just delist and then relist then, when doing this i had noticed that Ebay had changed my postage without my say so (so might explain why no sales) to Evrie!! how dare they!! i had an Evrie parcel come to me yesterday from an item i had ordered on amazon and they said on the order details they had handed it to me, errrm no they had not, it was just basically chucked on my front lawn, its a good job i live in a safe area, and was not even at home!! EBAY DO NOT TRY AND PUSH THIS RUBBISH COURIER OR YOU ARE GOING TO GET INTO ALOT OF BOTHER WHEN IT COMES TO A WHOLE LOAD OF REFUNDS!! what a completely stupid move!!

It’s 3.42 through ebay
go direct and it’s 1.99 locker to locker for small (which is larger than a large letter):I’ll get the prices in a sec
weights don’t matter I’ve been told by them
only thing is u have to trust them to stick the right label on your parcel cos it’s via qr codes and locker… no printed labels

These prices are well below ebays quotes

Yeh so ebay works out cheaper for my medium parcel and tbh i prefer the claims process with packlink (shockingly they usually do right by me)

A couple of thoughts regarding why ebay use Evri and Royal Mail for special delivery
18-03-2025 1:06 AM
I’m interested in switching to Inpost but what about compensation if an item is lost? Do they offer it? I think Inpost have driven the last nail in the coffin of Evri by refusing to let Evri use their lockers anymore (since February 26th). The Evri delivery guy who delivers here makes me chuckle. He knocks on the window of the woman in the flat downstairs and hands her parcels to her. Mine he just chucks on the doorstep😀

I take issue with point 2, you should have put in the proviso that with EVRI it depends on the courier if they choose to deliver! Our local one decides he does not go off the main road so those of us who live inconvenientently (okay not sure that is a real word or spelt correctly) off the beaten track do not get deliveries, somehow every other organisation manages to deliver here from large oil tankers to little delivery cars!

I try my best to avoid sellers using EVRI , i have video footage of a failed delivery, it was a young lady with a kid in the back of the car, she failed to deliver to me even though i was in and also the next door neighbor, she got in the car and drove away , that was the last time the parcel was ever seen, it took 3 months to get any money out of EVRI.

Do you really use locker to locker for Ebay sales. Do you tell your buyers?
I would be somewhat annoyed if I bought something on Ebay and was then expected to do a ten mile round trip to collect it!

That was Evris decision. They are slashing costs everywhere. Couriers can no longer collect certain packets. Have to take them to parcelshops. I'm using inpost through packlink so i assume i have same protection as my evri. Like I say I am an Evri courier myself and i can promise u the stuff they're upto behind the scenes will make your teeth itch. They've shut deliveries on Sundays for us which was paid higher and now we have to take sundays packets on Monday. Cut bonuses, rates. Made new band called small packets and just rebanded normal packets as these with 7p pay cut. We get charged for missing items. Huge boxes come through as postables. Its just getting worse. Meanwhile they're posting record profits. I'm sending by inpost as a protest personally (btw inpost use yodel for the final mile i've discovered).

That was just an example of costs from 1.99 to use locker to locker as opposed to 2.70 tracked RM with a lot more Sue to it too, and no weight limit for most things
no I don’t use inpost here, only on vinted
If I did it would be to home probably
Ps don’t know where you live but inpost lockers are just as prevalent as evri shops in my experience
I’ve just been promoting the good aspects of inpost over other choices, cost, reliability, etc can’t remember how it all started now

Inpost locker to locker versus RM which can be house to house is perhaps not a fair comparison.
I used to use Evri and for a while I used Inpost lockers as a way of getting stuff into the Evri system. On several occasions the locker that the system chose would not open and after a a few clunks and clicks another one would open. It occurred to me to wonder what would happen if a locker with one of my parcels inside failed to open for the Evri courier? How long would it take to sort out?
Another disadvantage with lockers is, you roll up (in my case ten mile round trip) to deposit your parcel and find they are all in use.
When I was using Evri a month did not go by without some problem. Parcel lost. Parcel "stuck" with no movement for days. I felt the need to monitor every parcel to check its progress, and was regularly having to contact Evri. Since I transferred my allegiance to RM a couple of years ago do you know how many issues I have had? It is a very round number. And in the vast majority of cases collection from my porch to delivery is two days. Well worth the extra cost IMHO.

A lot of what you are saying is that Inpost are chosen on price, this is exactly why Evri are so popular with sellers and buyers because of price ?
18-03-2025 3:31 PM
I like getting things sent to amazon lockers but tbh I think if someone sent to my inpost locker i'd throw the toys out unless it was my choice lol. That is a very very good price tho if you're sending something to friends quickly. Good info to know.

You should be able to opt out from Evri from your postage settings. This will leave you only with Royal Mail as a shipping option. Evri is the worst courier in this country. I will never let them have my business!
18-03-2025 4:12 PM
You can opt-out of evri for simple delivery by using the following link:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf

id pick Royal Mail any day as overall it’s the best service
they all have their pros and cons
my only complaint with RM is their large letter thickness ..should be a little bigger …as it is you pay the same to post a thimble as a pair of boots ie small parcel
I’ve been lucky with inpost I guess on all the stuff that can go wrong
similar in the past with evri on the whole though they had a spate of losing or damaging my parcels
18-03-2025 8:07 PM
Evri is dearer if you pick 1-2kg on eBay at least, inpost is same price for any weight up to 15kg
inpost is handy, many supermarkets have one there and loads of other places
no queuing
no one can say did not receive
swings and roundabouts , inpost has potential problems too anyway
everyone will do what works out best for them
19-03-2025 3:05 AM
Inpost handled 27.1 million parcels in 2024 which pales into insignificance to Evri who delivered 730 million parcels in 2024.
Evri and inpost parted company in February - Inpost retracted use of their lockers and Evri stopped in post using their retailers drop off points, it looks like this was a rift caused by Evri taking up locker space which inpost needed for their own parcels, it seems inpost had seriously underestimated the volume of Evri parcels and as inpost increased their business along with Evri the agreement was no longer workable.
It had absolutely nothing to do with Evri's service, payment or reputation they were just too big for inpost's network of lockers to cope.
These are the most likely reasons inpost at the moment are unable to compete with Evri for ebay's special delivery service
19-03-2025 7:00 AM
There will be no option for inpost when Simple Delivery is enforced.
So Pick you poison Evri or RM. With Payouts dependant on delivery status, and everyone complaining that RM tracking never updates on eBay , and their payout is delayed , which is preferable.
I have used eVrI via Parcel2Go for over 15 years with minimal issues Hundreds of parcels. And with a cumulative large saving over RM.
But I won't be able to use Parcel2Go in the future, my deliveries will be over charged by ebay , BPF+SD will make helping people a nightmare, so my sales will dry up and that will be that.
Ebay has been my Therapy for 25 years, just does my head in now
