Which Cancellation Reasons Don't Incur A Defect For Seller (Or Buyer)?

Title says it all. There aren't really enough reasons to select now, for instance, if you've literally just sold the item locally and it overlapped with your listing still being live, or you made a genuine mistake in the listing and the buyer is very understanding, not ranting-and-raving about you cancelling. People say: ask the buyer if they mind you doing a cancellation of the order, so if they don't actually mind, do you just select 'Buyer asked to cancel' or can they instigate it themselves? Either way (they officially request it or you just select that reason as the seller), do they get a defect on THEIR account, which would be rather unfair in the two circumstances that I described above? As a seller, I think a defect/ strike would be unfair on me too though.

I think the only defect free cancellations for a seller are unpaid ones, ones where something is wrong with the buyer's address, and ones where the buyer asks to cancel.

 

Buyers only get a 'defect' when the non payment cancellation is used.

adding to the advice already given -

Listing on eBay and selling elsewhere is a very serious breach of eBay rules.

 

In fact listing on eBay and not selling via eBay is an off eBay sale and another very serious breach of the rules.

Not strictly true...

 

You are only in breach of Ebay rules if you list an item on Ebay, sell it to a member via Ebay and then try to complete the sale 'offline' in order to avoid any fee's that are due.

 

Ebay CAN'T stop you listing said item elsewhere as well as listing it on Ebay
