What's happened to postage options?

Went to list something just now and the post service options have completely changed since yesterday. I usually list with free post (I then select yodel as that's my nearest/best priced drop off centre), but there's no option to offer free post. I'm forced to list with *whatever* ebay has chosen, which might be a service miles away from me making post a nightmare. Why why why mess about with this when it was working fine.... (I have my own ideas of why it was changed, you can guess my thoughts...)

I find it difficult to believe as well.

But I also think there must have been other occasions where it *has* gone as it's supposed to...🤔

(judging by the amount of stuff that must have been sold and posted since S.D. came in; some of it must have been pinched or shredded in the process!) and there haven't been any more horror stories..... yet.

The poor chap with(out) the gold coin hasn't come back with the final upshot of what happened. I 'spose it's possible he's just been worn down and given up..☹️

I'd really like to know the final resolution too , so @richardb196      any news?

This is the first time I've dealt with Simple Posting when selling an item and it's a joke.

Once I printed the label on Sunday evening it shows the item as dispatched ???

Since I don't stay near a post office I rely on the Royal Mail Collection service which to be fair is exellent.

Bearing in mind this is Sunday, when I try to arrange the collection via Simple Posting it tells me the first available collection is Tuesday, 48 hours later !!!!!!!!!!

If I go into the Royal Mail website I can get the item picked up the following day (Monday).

Via Simple posting for a collection I now have to to print the label.

When we could do Custom posting Royal Mail would bring the printed label for the postman to attach.

Printing my own labels is costing me money in terms of ink cartridges and paper.

EBay get a grip and give us back the Custom label option.

Your making life so much harder instead of improving.

Hi. I agree. Why say it's dispatched when you haven't even been to the post office. I posted a small purse in a small box (lightweight) (Royal Mail). Posting options weren't good. Paid the same price as I would have posting a pair of shoes in a shoe box.

The 'Bring my label' option is now available for Royal Mail collections with Simple Delivery:

Booking a collection

If you have a Royal Mail label, you can book a collection on eBay. Royal Mail can then collect your item and also bring the label for you if you don't have a printer. You'll need to book the collection before you create your prepaid label. Here's how:

1. Go to Orders in My eBay.
2. Select the order you'd like to book a collection for.
3. Select Get prepaid label.
4. Choose the date for the collection.
5. Select Book collection.

Once you've booked your collection, you won't be able to change the date. If you miss your collection, you can book it again for another date on the Royal Mail website.

before the new system it said despatched as   soon as you bought the label but everywhere else it said send by x y z date

that Tuesday collection for a Sunday order would still be ok as within the three day despatch maximum limit on eBay

on vinted you won’t get rm home collection I don’t think, not even a label, just a qr code to take to post office

When my item sold last night when I went into Ebay the first page that appeared told me to choose my courier (always Royal Mail) and print my label.

I got the collection option but no 'bring may label' option.

I'll need to watch out for that when I sell next.

Since replying to the OPs comment I have sat and watched dozens of other people reply with similar issues and not a single word from ebay, just to add, last week I created an advert on the site for something very sought-after and everything was filled in that could be so two day's later I checked how many views it had and to my shock 'zero', people had seen it?  So I checked the boxes and settings and it was fine, so I removed the advert and tried again and the next day I saw it had NO views again? I wonder if the admin are reducing users traffic who complain about the postage service, I know it's a bizarre thought but there is no other explanation for having zero views on an item that would sell and I've got plenty of followers on ebay, I asked my friend to look for the advert and he couldn't find it 😱 I've since removed ALL my adverts and I'm migrating to Vinted as ebay is done for by ignorance from the top.

I am currently reporting ebay to Citizens advice under the consumer rights act 2015 and the Fair trades Act 1973, for breaching UK law and limiting users choices with the sole intention of forcing users into ebay's ecosystem with paid for partnerships in conjunction with Royal Mail (RM) and EVRI, lack of choice for postal services and options therein,

I have also sent information to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) stating that ebay, RM and EVRI are forcing and limiting users interactions with third party companies again by limiting the users choice with the intention of monopolizing the market and forcing users into ebay's ecosystem.

Some items are too heavy/big for Evri and RM is sometimes more expensive compared UPS. So I have chosen UPS a few times. But that option has gone.

Also it is unknown what size or weight the item will be until it is packaged up, I don't want to package it up until i is sold. Plus I may be combining more than one item together.

Is this new system flexible for me to do all that?

I only sell small items so can't really comment on bigger items. It's hard to know the weight unless you can weigh the item.

Crazy that we have to do such a thing - Ebay have really screwed up everything for private sellers. They tell us to use custom delivery but do not provide any means to do so. I pity the business sellers when Ebay decide that it is their turn to have the thumbscrews tightened on them.

The item dispatched as soon as you print a label has been a thing for ages...months..maybe years. I don't know why people are mentioning it now?
