Unfair 'Buyer'

Hi,

I've always had 100% positive feedback and pride myself on it. However, recently I encountered a very vindictive member.

They left me Neutral feedback for absolutely NO reason whatsoever!  I politely asked them to remove it and was ignored. Bottom line is it was sour Grapes on their part, I'll explain briefly.

I was selling an item 'Collection' only, they pressed 'Buy it Now' then complained that I wouldn't post it!  My Ad said ' No postage, collection only!

After a few brief messages between us the order was obviously cancelled, I then get the Neutral feedback!  It is so unfair, what can I do?

I'm afraid eBay will not remove the feedback , as you did have a postage option on that listing.

Thankfully the buyer left the feedback on a neutral, which does not affect your performance scores.

They have refused a feedback revision , and you have left a polite follow up,  that's all you can do.

As a tip , before clicking on the final button ' List with Displayed Fees'  just double check the postage services you have selected ,  mine often jumps  to Collection AND postage,  when I do not wish to offer both.

There is no reason why Ebay would remove the feedback.

It is accurate and reflects the buyer's experience.

You made an error on the listing.  Not all buyers read the description and your buyer is expressing their disappointment.

It's worth noting that Ebay no longer allow sellers to ask for or accept cash on collection as requested on the listing for the boots.

There is confusion on your listing as postage (Evri tracked) is shown AND in your description you say "Buyer collect only please. Cash on collection." The Evri is near the top where it has more prominence and is more noticable and thus seems more significant. "Buyer collect only please...", even if read, appears like an option instead of the only option, or a mistake (I've often come across descriptions that relate to a different item, probably where the seller's used Copy&Paste from another listing).

What's important e.g. for a buyer researching you as a potential seller, is that you were polite in your reply to feedback. Your calling the buyer "vindictive" is in this thread, thankfully nowhere near your account/feedback pages.

Try not to be annoyed unduly, as the rest of your feedback is fine. It's not like it was a Negative, and even with Negatives potential buyers looking at feedback tend to judge by how you reply to it. As you gather more positive feedback, the neutral one becomes less significant.

hi op...nothing wrong with a neutral. I have had hundreds over the years..it means nothing to buyers who are looking, apart from your response!  Always be professional in your replies even when you know they are telling porkies.

I recently had a buyer who got a full refund on a vinyl record that I had (mistakenly) not described correctly. However after getting his immediate refund he left abusive neutral feedback, calling me `Lazy`, `Dishonest` and ending his tirade with `Consider this as a warning!`. I was naturally a little `peeved` by this and contacted Seller support, who agreed that this was `Threatening` language and the feedback should be removed, and told me to put in a feedback removal request. This I did.......and removal was refused! I think feedback removal depends on who you get looking at the request, as I have had much milder negative feedback removed in the past.

Just my experience, i had a similar issue. I contacted eBay explained the facts and they did remove the feedback within minutes. Hope they do this for you, i really can't see why they wouldn't.

Good Afternoon Bake

Just an addition to what the other respondents have said.  eBay won't remove the feedback as your buyer was mislead.

On your current sale of the guitar unfortunately you can no longer ask for or accept cash on collection. Your buyer will have to pay through the normal channels. I would suggest you delete the cash request from the description.

When and if it does sell then make sure your buyer is aware that they will have to bring their phone with them and show you the QR code, which you must scan and in turn show eBay.

I am afraid that things are getting 'messy' on eBay.

Good luck.

I just a complete.... So and so buyer on my other account who bought something in dec and decided to only message the other day and open a case saying they did not get the item...they did it with 1 day left to spare for the ebay 30 day guarantee

I used ebay labels and was clearly posted but Christmas rush clearly royal mail lost it...not my fault but obviously i refunded

And they decided to leave me negative feedback

So ebay shall be removing it soon since the lost parcel is no fault of me the seller

I looked. I wish I hadn’t. That seller is outrageous.

Most of his buyers don’t seem very bright though, how many times have we seen this, if they’d opened snads instead of messaging and messaging asking and complaining….

Well ebay decided to not remove the feedback even though it was royal mail who lost the parcel sov something a seller has zero control over

So i removed my 400 listings and waiting for account to close. Litterally can not be bothered with ebay anymore they are utterly useless

Quirkiness can be fun, but where purchases are concerned? especially high-value ones?

How a seller replies to a buyer's neutral or negative feedback (and it's a good idea to reply) is important to buyers researching a potential new seller. A lot of buyers, however boring it seems, might prefer an "ordinary" seller = one who'd hopefully be more predictable if something goes awry.

I wouldn't give up and remove listings through the disgust of getting an un-deserved neg.....

Leaving a calm, polite, truthful and impersonal reply to the neg can 'neutralise' the nastiness of having a neg.

Then when a potential buyer reads up on you they can see that you have manners and respond nicely even when under stress/ problems!
