Did you mean:

The new when we get paid rules from February.

Ebay was always heavily weighted in favour of the Buyers, but this new mad rule thats coming in next month about having to wait two days after delivery is confirmed to get paid is simply beyond the pale.

And sometimes delivery conformation never comes, apparently in that situation we have to wait 14 days to get our money.

This is disgusting and completely nuts. A self-destructive move from Ebay.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

Because you’re not going to be selling anything, you indicate you won’t have the wherewithal to buy anything.

Rather than spending time here, it’s maybe better use of that time to look at other sites to see which suit you and spend time there to see the ins-and-outs of how it works to your advantage - especially if that site has a forum so that you can pick up on the experience which others have / have had of that site - especially the pitfalls.

But anyone who has had all their eggs in the one eBay basket, the lack of their spreading their wings has now come home to roost.

What nasty comments?   Once again you say 'nobody has been paid in 2 days' and i have said that is not a true statement because i have.

Me too. Two working days after delivery the money is available to withdraw. Always (so far).

On clicking withdraw the money is in my bank within minutes. THAT probably depends on what bank you use, any delays are nothing to do with Ebay.

I saw that post and looked back through your conversation and saw they were totally wrong about the threatening part. Thought about posting along those lines too but decided it would be better for someone with authority to handle it.

Apparently, some people feel threatened by opinions that do not align with their own.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

Ha ha, yes, I've seen a fair bit of that here too. Though that is actually fairly normal for me because I'm about as out of the box as it gets.

At least from everyone I've met and conversed with in my life to date.

Yes agree. I also had funds within 2 days to withdraw following delivery ❤️

I am beginning to feel that peoples frustrations are being vented in the wrong direction 😞

How about venting them on the Wednesday afternoon chat ...at least that way "they will be passed on"   🙂

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

Not saying you are wrong but from the threads I've been watching there do appear to be at least 2 eBay accounts that directly inject into conversations here. Ipso facto, they are watching.

Could explain the subtle reversal on Simple Delivery.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

It's a sad day for me.

I've been a private seller on ebay for 25 yrs.

BP.

I have just removed many items where ebay has added Buyer Protection. I've  been selling from my own collections of stuff and also from my mothers. I pitch the price low to attract buyers so BP makes a nonsense of this.  It takes choice away from sellers. As others say how does it work as ebay have always stated that buyers Are Protected???

Getting Paid

Also the get paid in 14 days issue doesn't seem workable either. I offer Freepost 2nd class and get a proof of posting from PO. So even after 14 days it's unknown if item has been received as buyers rarely leave feedback now. Obvs they are out of time for returning item and no contact means buyer has item and is happy.

Ebay Postage

Ebay special postage I've  not looked into but I don't think it's something I'd be using.

Paying Options

There is now also some manipulation of paying options. I've used PayPal for 25 yrs and the pay in 3 has been a help for me As a Buyer. I've Earned this facility by being a good long term user. Now

we are pushed to apply for Klarna

credit. So I will NO longer BUY on ebay either for the above reason.

Send Offers to Buyer

This is a pain and has become counter productive. The new method of doing it has been tweaked and so is more complex than it was. I offer Make an Offer in my listings so buyers can choose this on their own. From a buyers POV it's extremely irritating and annoying and more likely to deter views and watches!! Ebay press sellers to send offers even to viewers not just watchers. I am also not going to continue as a buyer for this and other reasons above.

Promote your Listing.

This is a blatent money grabber!

If NO ONE promoted then we'd all be on LEVEL playing field anyway!!?? So they think we're simple or what?

It's FREE TO SELL

This may be the biggest con yet. It IS NOT FREE to sell for the above reason ⬆️  We pay for promoted listings. Pressured to do this or I suspect our unprompted items are not visible??  The latest tv ad says it's free and shows a seller at home, presumably private, selling their own unwanted items. This was the original ethos.

Ebay are doing all they can to get rid of/ phase out private sellers.

There are many more reasons why I'm finally leaving as seller and buyer.  New issues are occurring daily. Constant mssgs ... how did we do? / make an offer  / new complex method of putting pics on after 20 plus years of comparitive  ease!!

Do the new tweakers think we're stupid?

So goodbye ebay after 25 years and no negs. Just put my gold clock in the post. 🤣🤣🤣

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

So eloquently put.....

I have currently put my listings on hold, mainly for a fortnight to enable my money to catch up with me!

I will probably not relist until I know if I can opt out of Simple Delivery and still offer free postage - if so then I am contemplating listing items in the first 2 weeks of the month and then allowing the money to catch up in the following 2 weeks - half the workload for near enough the same income - why didn't I think of this before!!!

You have sold 1000s of new jam jar seals on a private account. If you upgrade to a business account the new rules will not apply.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

The problem is if you don't use ebay what do you use vinted are just as bad
or facebook it's good but cuts amount of buyers right down so we're left
using eBay doesn't make us happy about waiting for payment Al tell you
something else if you have items for sale look how much they are listed for
ebay money is added Ave just noticed items Ave got listed at 30 is 31.24 so
ebay isn't charging for listing nope ebay is adding to your listing extra
fee so they do make free nowt

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

there are other sites, whether i will use one of them is another thing.  I will certainly be putting the lower priced items (which are in the majority) on the car boot i spend sundays at during the summer.  I am a genuine private seller and if the stuff does not sell for whatever reason i can give it to a charity shop as a last resort.  Whether the extra BPF will make a difference to my sales in the future i do not know but as we are all in the same position each person as the choice of either leaving their prices at what they want or lowering them to take account of the BPF in the hope that you are lower than others.   The majority of my stuff is clothing and you usually only find a certain amount of the item on here in the right colour, size etc so if someone wants a specific they will buy it.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

This is all getting a bit personal, which is why I've basically stopped posting, because lets face it, no one is being convinced of anything, people have their views, have given them and not it's just swirling around, becoming more heated, but little else.  People who aren't happy with the changes ebay are making have genuine grievances, and to the business sellers commenting here, frankly your opinions mean nothing, you aren't affected by what has happened. You can carry on and that's fine, but this is a matter that is solely effects private sellers. Oh, and to those who sell one or two things every blue moon, please, we all know you won't have an issue there, because all you are doing is showing that isn't how you mainly operate on ebay.

I've been on ebay on another account for nearly 25 years, my feedback on that account is five figures. Mostly a buyer but I sell too. I know people who've used ebay for many years and their circumstances have changed depending on what happens in their real lives. What ebay is doing would have significantly have impacted many of them. Honestly, it effects me too. The reason is simple. The money I get helps me out, as it does lots of folk here.. With ebay becoming more prescriptive, that help diminishes because not only is it more complicated, it means that the money isn't as readily available. You think two weeks, which in many cases is what we are talking about here, isn't too long to wait? Let me turn it round, do buyers like waiting that long to receive their items?

Over the years I've had buyers who contact me the day after buying to ask if the item is sent yet. After a week some are sending message after message. The only negative fb on my account in the last year is a guy who regularly leaves people negative fb for no reason. I had stated the item would take a while to send in the listing, a largish item stored elsewhere, and at the time I was having house renovations. Nevertheless, he left negative fb, even after I stated I'd happily refund him, and relist the item for less at a later date just for him. As my other fb shows, I do what I can for any buyer to make sure they have a good experience, because when I'm buying that's what I want too. Yet now sellers are asked to wait, for no reason I might add, in a way buyers don't want to, and lets be honest, the wait to send items is mostly physical, be it getting the right box, packing, having it collected and whichever courier/postal service delivering the item, so there is a reason for it.

Ebay have made the changes to make more money, we all know that. If fees had made more cash, they'd have stuck with that, but they didn't. At least, not for now. Give it a year, I can foresee these changes being supplemented by fees, but that's the future. I read Simple Delivery today. It says you can opt-out,  which I will. If that changes in future, who knows, people here were talking as though it will be imposed. As someone who doesn't drive and has limited mobility, my parcels are collected, so if the change is to make me use a drop-off, I am done, no question. people liked ebay because you could do things your own way, as long as the item arrived in a  reasonable time and intact. That has changed significantly, and no, people don't like that.

I will add, on every forum I use that belongs to a company, there are some people, on some sites moderators, on others guides or helpers, whatever, and no matter what the company does they defend it. If that's all you come here to do, please, do us all a favour and keep your praise to yourself. You don't help matters and just add to the friction that builds into negative comments and being personal. As someone in real life who has dealt with a lot of hate face to face and basically knows exactly how to cut people off at the knees, I stop myself from becoming too engaged because I know it gets nowhere.  I'd happily say everything I say here or elsewhere to that person's face, no question, but I'd suggest, if you wouldn't, you shouldn't write it here. The world doesn't need more keyboard warriors, we already have a world where, as the Jarvis Cocker song says, certain people are running the world, (google it). Lets not sink to their level.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

eBay are not even interested unless item has been delivered they don`t give a f**k about the sellers its like they have turned the screw or turned their back that how it feels anyway . I have a buyer that is not rushing themselves to collect item or rearrange delivery is still being on hold after 6 days now

Where are you seeing 30 days? AIUI it is 2 days after delivery or 14 days from transaction date, whichever comes up first.

Ebay can hold funds for 30 days in certain circumstances, when there are disputes for instance, or for new sellers. They always have been able to, but not for the the circumstances under discussion here, which is the new hold until after delivery.
