The new when we get paid rules from February.

Ebay was always heavily weighted in favour of the Buyers, but this new mad rule thats coming in next month about having to wait two days after delivery is confirmed to get paid is simply beyond the pale.

And sometimes delivery conformation never comes, apparently in that situation we have to wait 14 days to get our money.

This is disgusting and completely nuts. A self-destructive move from Ebay.

I remember times where you paid for your goods there & then with hard cash.
eBay now forces sellers to use tick which is basically an IOU but not based
in a trust relationship with a buyer to pay as they've paid but a trust
relationship with a company who doesn't value you as their customer & only
interest is to make as much money as possible doing as little as possible.
Back in the day we called them cowboys

Yes. I totally agree with this.

eBay really need to have a rethink and start treating all their members nicely again instead of looking after the privileged few whilst neglecting others.

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

It’s a shame really, over the years of buying and then selling on eBay I have met some very nice people and made some really good friends via the eBay process but this latest set of changes, should I ever use them, will make that relationship more difficult to achieve. Anyone who has militaria items to move on could try quickfire auctions, it’s a dot Co dot uk site

That is not accurate, if they are not showing in funds they can not be used

I did not write the answer, ( repeated below),  it was  was printed off eBay's help pages.  Note ' generally' is added !

Yes, on eBay UK, you can generally use your pending funds (funds that are currently being processed but not yet fully available) to purchase items, including when a buyer protection fee is applied;

There's that word ' generally'  again !

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

You know a policy is a disaster when people are complaining on other platforms, unprompted. For example:

"The new eBay selling format is absolutely sh** and will ruin it it for regular sellers like myself.
They changed it a few months ago and ditched the sellers fees which was great and encouraged more people to start listing stuff on there but I just knew something like this was around the corner to recoup their seller fee losses.
This new buyers protection *bleep* will impact the buyers and the sellers as the price is severely hiked.
Also from a sellers perspective I'm hating the switch to having the funds released after delivery is confirmed as it means I have to front all the shipping costs now, that soon adds up when you sell a lot of items, especially high value ones *bleep*!"

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

I've made a few sales on there during the last few days and it's been great !

Had to pay £69.99 (half price) and upgrade to their "Platinum Lifetime" membership to be able to have more photos in listings and NO FEES FOR LIFE !  🙂

I love the PayPal Instant Payments again !  🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Tell me about it ! - It's nice to see your items selling on another site 🙂 ... instead of being stuck in limbo with people just watching and watching here in eBay 😞

Best of luck parsley  🙂 😎

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

that is true but people are quoting a seller who is desperate for money so probably will have no funds in their bank account anyway, do you think the banks are going to pay out (unless the person has overdraft facilities)?

Most banks offer some form of arranged overdraft if you ask to see a member of staff and then ask them NICELY if you can have an "arranged overdraft" explaining your circumstances to them.

47p  a day won't break the bank just to be able to have an arranged overdraft to get you out of a sticky situation when it's needed !

Aren't we discussing people that cannot afford to post items until they receive their funds? Who need to sell stuff not to de-clutter but to put food on the table?

Not sure taking out a loan at £171.55 a year makes economic or logical sense. Better to use that £171.55 to put food on the table or pay a bill. Or use the loan to tide oneself over until better times come along. But not to fund selling on Ebay.

I only use it for a few days when I'm waiting for my money to come through... and too many direct debits are coming out all at the same time...

Lloyds Bank club account only charge me 0.47p for a daily use (this is their interest), there are no other charges.

Just to add that the 0.47p is only charged per day if I need to use the full £500, If for example I'm only using £150 out of my £500 overdraft then it is £0.21p per day until it is paid back automatically when there is a cash/online funds deposit in my bank account...

Re: The new when we get paid rules from February.

Once upon a time payment on ebay came thru Cheques , Post Orders, even cash in recorded envelopes, then Paypal was in the equation too. ebay dictated to all Sellers to WAIT until the funds are in your Bank til mailing.

These were the golden days before ebays greed and controlling emotions really engulfed the Sellers. is it worth selling on ebay now a days? Now its got to ebay pressuring sellers to ship without their due  funds, and let ebay hold them and get interest, not just the few days when MP was inflicted on the platform, but now upto 14 days.

Oh dont forget Paypal payments on other sites are in your bank instantly today still.

Financially that point is diminishing greatly, the stress factors growing daily, deception and ill principles have become the normal. I see ebay promoting loan providers on these captive boards now, i know they get paid for promoting these 'providers' , but it highlights the selling effects on ebay in a very bad light .
