So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

The whole thing is now one big confusing mess...how do you make something which was so simple so complicated?

I've now put all my sales (and purchases) on hold for 3 weeks just to see how this plays out.

By then we'll see how many sellers have had to wait the full 14 days to get "confirmation" that their item has been delivered & whether they've been paid OR whether they're having problems with payouts etc.

With 19k of sales, may be worth upgrading to a business account, then the new rules will not apply

Refunded to who?

It is the buyer paying the 75p, they will get everything back that they paid to the seller.

The seller will keep whatever the item was listed for, the fee is added on top to the listing which the buyer pays.

Hi,  thanks for the (very) obvious reply.  I have removed 179 of my listings yesterday and just left a few to see what transpires.  If you cut off the circulation of money it often has negative impacts.

The only person it impacts is the seller, they are the ones losing sales to other sellers who have similar items listed.

I will add a link to some stats, eBay will be alright whether you sell or not.

I've ended the listings for all our remaining items & I'm going to sit back for a month & see how this nightmare is going to unfold before I will decide what to do. I use my husbands account to sell both mine & his personal items on, not this one I'm talking here on. Simple Delivery just won't work for us as we live somewhere that means that realistically we can only use RM as we don't have any Evri drop off points. I will sit back & relax & watch it all from afar before deciding what to do. I'm really sad this is all happening as I've been selling things from around the home now for about 25 years. Oh well....

I'm wondering why are you so bothered and concerned about people you don't even know losing sales on eBay ?

I think there is more to this than meets the eye...

I'm totally confused BB the money i made today is no longer pending but in my account to withdraw have they changed this back? The online news is full of the BPP when it hasn't even happened. Never seen anything like it

I am not sure what you're trying to insinuate, it sounds like you think I work for eBay, maybe I do, maybe I have?

I actually want to see the genuine private and business sellers get sales, throwing the toys out of the pram because they don't agree with new policies is pretty sad because they are a minority that will make no difference to anyone except the seller themselves.

You would need to see million and millions of account closures and huge huge drop in revenue to get any response or action from eBay, sellers that only a few hundred sales per quarter will go unnoticed, there will be 1000s of accounts each day that will stop selling and there will be 1000s of accounts signing up to sell also.

Some seem to think if they stop selling they have hit them where it hurts by not generating any sales for them and they are going to get a phone call from eBay begging them to come back, it isn't going to happen.

All the new policies have not even been completely rolled out so why would someone lose up to a month's worth of sales by putting their account on timeaway or ending all their listings? I could understand if they have been selling with the new fees or using simple delivery and it isn't working for them but no one has.

If they are happy for their items to sit there, unsold, gathering dust potentially losing value while those that are still selling will be enjoying the drop in competition and have no doubt have seen an increase in sales.

"Cutting off one's nose to spite one's face" Comes to mind.

It's just as well most do not run a business because they would never survive with spiralling costs, legislation and whatever gets thrown at us, we have to adapt and make things work or we throw the towel in and give up, which isn't an option for most businesses when they have staff and bills to pay.

The one thing I still don't understand is those that hate this company so much still continue to log on each day only to keep posting the same old nonsense, they can't be all that bad can they?

I am done posting about the new fees, simple delivery, false rumours and whatever else people have an issue with, it's very tedious reading the same old posts about how they have stopped selling in defiance and it's about principle why they are doing this, I am trying convince people to at least give it a try before making a decision because it will be the seller that is losing over the long run.

Hi there Parsley 🙂

I honestly don't know what's happening, either they haven't got to you yet or they have delayed these silly payment holds due to bad user feedback (somehow the second one is unlikely as the folk who seem to run eBay seem to have no regards for their users or take any notice of their user's feedback !)

I would imagine it's like what they did with Managed Payments, they first started rolling it out in 2021 but I didn't get put on it until  early 2022 😞

Previously in Managed Payments if I sold an item at 9 am, my funds from my buyer would be stuck on "Processing" all day until around 11:45 pm that same day when eBay would finally finish processing them and make them available for me to use on eBay or withdraw to my bank account.

Now it's going to stay held until the sold item has been confirmed as "Delivered" by the eBay system and then sit on processing for 48 hours after that confirmed delivery date before it is released to you (the seller) and you are able to use it on eBay or transfer it over to your bank account...

Not very good now if you want your money in a hurry.  😞

So...anyone else put their sales on hold...?

Yesterday I noticed from random browsing that 6 of my regular private sellers (for me that's about 12%) now have no listings whatsoever (but 1 had retained her clothing section), which they did some time during the past fortnight.

All those 6 were all on my "special" list of top favourite regular sellers. I felt quite sad!

I suspect that if I looked methodically at all my regular private sellers that a few more have put things on hold like that. Unfortunately it's not an objective measure of what's going on sitewide, but I doubt if they're the only private sellers to stop selling on eBay at least for the time being.

They're still on eBay, so maybe eBay can win them back?

I've been reading a lot of your posts and whilst I agree with a fair amount of what you are saying I feel it prudent to sit and watch for the moment. Early doors and they had their app "failure" yesterday too but from auctions/listings that I have bookmarked in a field I would say I have a fairly decent grasp of I'm already seeing what I would view as anomalies. Things selling for at least 10% lower than they normally would.

There are many plausible reasons for something like that happening, people not being logged on, not having enough free cash, not wanting those particular items right now, etc, etc.

But if that continues over a longer time period then it does suggest a change of some nature as for as long as I have been collecting the Warhammer model market has been very stable.

I believe that is a valid concern, especially with increased fees on the horizon and while I agree the seller is potentially losing out by not listing their items if the market is undergoing a change they could be saving themselves some money too.

Also, sellers don't only have to be sellers. They can be buyers too. I'd wager I'm on the extreme end of the latter in my chosen field/hobby, a byproduct of physical limitations but if I'm not selling the stuff I don't want I can't afford to replace them with better items either, well not at the same level anyway.

Everything is interconnected and what they have chosen to do has too many potentially negative consequences for individuals, both buyers and sellers for things to remain unchanged. Time will tell us if the change is for better or worse. My gut says the latter.

Removed all my listings. That's it after 20 years. Only really sold things for a pound or 2 and sent 2nd class without tracking to keep it cheap and if things got lost then I refunded the buyer.  Refuse to be told how to post things by ebay or wait 14 days (at least) for payment and have fees put back on through a back door effectively.

Would the other site be the one we talked about on a thread a few weeks ago?  Made my first two sales this year there last week, to a returning buyer.

Morning Elench 🙂

Yes ! -

I also sold another item on there late last night for £34.50 plus postage which I have to go out and post this morning.

I've taken the rest down off that site now as I'm going to be away from tomorrow in London to see my dad.

That place works but the full membership is dear but now seems like a good investment as people seem to be seeing my stuff and buying instead of just watching !

I'm such a fool, I wish I had listened to you last year when you said about this place... It's me, I was just to involved with eBay and too lazy to have to do all my listings again, but I can see that you can actually import listings from other market places and even feedback via their app.

Bless you Elench ! - Take care, I'm now having a break from these forums and eBay for a few days. 😎

You said yesterday that you would update the 1 Day graph for the ebay share price.  Have you done that on the thread you put yesterday's figures on ?  If not could you add the update here please?

I can't remember which thread you used yesterday and there are far too many posts to scroll through trying to find it!!!!!!

One thing that I'm sure you've considered, but others might not be familiar with is that the ebay stats. you're showing us is that they're for Ebay.Inc and represent the total for ebay world-wide.  These changes are only being applied to ebay.uk (?) but analysts and corporate share dealers will be watching to see what clues they can glean and responding by buying / selling / down or up grading their expectations for the next earnings call.

I'd love to see figures for ebay.uk but, so far as I know, ebay never reveals its figures by region?

My advice, don't bother importing FB, all you get is a generic "This FB was imported from another site by CS" or something similar.   IMO it can be a double-edged sword.

I've never used it but they do have something like "Holiday Mode" you can use for breaks!!

Thinking about it more, if an item on both sites sold on ebay first I'd just "End" the other listing.  It then goes into an "Ended" folder from which it can be re-listed.  Just don't "Delete" the listing !!  Delete means gone for good with no way of getting it back!!  See also my PM 🙂
