I list a few things on ebay occasionally, but this new simple delivery is just rubbish for sellers. It assumes that ebay actually know the size and weight of items And that everyone can easily get to Evri or other courier services easily. Why did they have to stop the seller from deciding how to post items? Put me right off bothering to use Ebay.

Worst Implantation ever. All it needed was sellers to CONFIRM which postage company they could use or use the defult one we selected. Ive dispatched items I now cannot "mark as dispatch". They obviously tested nothing.

Ironically, sometimes I choose ‘get postage label’ as a business and can arrange RM collection for that item (I had 4 ebay orders collected today, from my safe place, while I was out) and yet ebay seem unable to translate that into Simple Delivery!

From what I can see, I sense they've cut out the middleman that handled the postage side for them and Simple Delivery is eBay's in-house solution to replace it. This would explain why they can't translate the framework from the 'Get Postage Label' to the new Simple Delivery, I think the middleman here is Packlink and they have an integrated solution for Collection that eBay haven't yet been able to figure out.
To re-use this code would involve keeping the middleman in on the cut so it seems they've opted to rework delivery options from the ground up for maximum profit, I wouldn't be surprised if Personal sellers are the guinea pigs here and they will roll it out to Business when they've tweaked it (response so far isn't particularly positive so don't expect anything good to come).

I already suspect that they will roll it out to business sellers (or try to). It won’t work as many sellers have their own accounts with whichever delivery company they prefer to use (I don’t due to my buyers liking stamps on their deliveries) and it will bring a lot of time consuming faff. That said, Im finding the introduction of the BPF has killed my sales on my private account which in turn has affected my business account as buyers seem to be voting with their feet on lower priced items. Some have openly told me that they used to sell items in order to fund their buying but their sales have disappeared so can no longer afford to buy.

So I think Ebay has added back in the "mark as dispatch button". Its not appeared on the "orders" page on desktop and Ebay also told me on Mobile you can now click "get labels" and now they've added it in there.
Again - just very poor role out and went way too hard on mandatory bit. If its simple and easy, people will use it, otherwise - leave people alone. Also again, no one wants to use "Evri" the firm so bad, they had to change there name.

This.
I sold stuff, and with the proceeds I bought 'treats'....(the 'nice to haves', not the 'need to haves')
Not doing that anymore..😢

Yeah by removing the "Mark as dispatched" button meant yesterday my buyer received and left poss feedback but the system said "Delivered" but the tracking was saying "Held up" which meant that ebay was telling me that as there is no movement on the postage I will have to wait TWELVE days for the money to clear? It really wasnt the money but the principle of this once great site falling to bits so I managed to speak to someone and they released the money within an hour!, what a sham this site has become..I just hope they sort it soon cause its such a great selling tool and both 'it' and the users dont deserve this!.

'Ebay and Evri are the couple you wouldn't invite to dinner.'
😄
Ebay would keep rearranging the table... & Evri would drop the plates... 🍽

Worse Ebay would be the dinner guest that tells you that you must buy all the food from them at inflated prices while being prescriptive about how it must cooked. They would also privately tell all the other guests to arrive 2 hours earlier than you had advised. Then they would spend the evening patronising everyone until they get fed up and choose to leave.

you forgot.......
"......then charged everyone for coming, slapped on a surprise 'exit' surcharge and insisted that all the leavers cars cannot depart till there's a confirmation they actually had arrived....."

... and they'd have the use of your cars in the meantime...

... and probably hire them out for a profit...

After the party, eBay would send umpteen nagging emails to the other guests asking for feedback.
Did the meal arrive on the table on time? Was the food the correct temperature? Was the host a scintillating conversationist? Do you want to include an image of the meal on your review?

I had one similar, but delivery never updated, then got a late delivery mark because ‘carrier confirmed late delivery’. It wasn’t late, it just wasn’t scanned on delivery. Buyer left feedback confirming receipt while tracking showed that it would be updated when delivery was attempted 🙄 Funds were released a couple of days after feedback being left but delivery remains late and not delivered.

My 3 meter long skirting board just sold. There's no way evri would have accepted that from me so I drove 90 miles one way to deliver it so that I didn't let the person down. Not all buyers are aware of the change.
My ad said collection only and stated the 3m length and yet ebay said is was 46cm in the label part. Crazy. And now it keeps saying I need to despatch the item even though it's been delivered.
The buyer also wanted to mark it as delivered but there's no option for her

Don't bother selling your stuff this way. You will always end up dealing with the cheapest *bleep*piest courier.
I sold an item which was broken by the courier in transit. Ebay state they will be responsible for dealing with goods damaged in transit under terms of "simple delivery"
This is nonsense - what they actually do is simply return the broken stuff to you and charge you a refund to the seller. Next time I sell it won't be on Ebay

Worst case here you could say to the buyer you are going to send an empty envelope or box with the label they purchased at checkout, some people are generally understanding so it may be worth a shot and will avoid running foul of eBay’s automation.

I don't know if anyone from eBay reads this sort of thing but here's hoping.
SD is a retrograde step.
The option for free collection from home by RM with the label thrown in has gone.
I'm now back to schlepping to the Post Office to attract baleful stares from people buying milk or single cans of cider while I try to post packages.
And the idea that the weight steps should go 1kg, 2kg, 10kg is interesting, to say the least.
I will be looking for another platform unless they knock this on the head.
