I've noticed today while trying to list an item that the simple delivery for what would be a medium parcel (6.65 RM 48) starts upwards of £10 (and they can choose between Evri and RM).
I can still choose the classical way, but if they remove it, this would make it a hidden extra fee on top of the buyer protection/selling fee, in my opinion at least.
I mean, who wants to 10.5 to Evri/Hermes for a gamble on "we're sorry we've missed you (since we never actually came by)" perpetual check?

Not seelcting promotion is not even a thing for me, I've always thought of it as an extra fee, so I always choose 5%. Better something than nothing, I thought. A small tip of sorts. It seems to have worked so far.

Always have been for years. I bypass eBay shipping altogether and go to Royal Mail

The problem I see with paying for promoting items is that, If everybody paid for promoting, then ultimately nothing is actually being promoted. Greedbay would effectively be just rinsing the sellers.

Yeah... it's rather like supermarket loyalty cards that give 'special discounted prices'! Well, when over 90% of shoppers have the card, what they are paying are normal prices.....

Today I received a message that for private sellers Simple Delivery will be mandatory starting April for eligible items. For myself in my category I can send items by Royal Mail letter post (mainly) or large letter which comes under the Universal Service Obligation of Royal Mail, so letters start at 87p 2nd class. Why should I or the seller be expected to pay a massively increase to £2.73 to be forced to deliver their way, have to go to a Post Office ½ mile away rather than the post box 150 metres away
. I have reported this issue to the CMA.

Gloabl shipping appears to be not working, it's saying contact seller for a postage quote where it used to show an actual price, so I guess thats been temporarily switched off?
Even if you untick evri it says prepaid royal mail or evri label will be provided and apparently theres a get out clase for ebay so they can force evri if they want.
The buyer will be paying the fee on the postage rates as well, and additionally its more pricey. For example instead of £3.39 tracked 48 its £3.74 for a very basic service.
And sellers now cannot include their packaging costs in the postage and packaging cost meaning all prices will increase to compensate for this too.
Ebay is literally cloneing vinted now.

And weirdly it's showing £3.74 for simple delivery but charging the buyer £4.80...for a small parcel...that you could pay £3.36 via tracked 48 for -_-
Yeah, this aint saving anyone money...its MAKING money for ebay.

What are the delivery costs on V? And can you get RM with collection from your home?

Can anyone advise what comes up for the seller if you've sold something as free delivery?
can you not just purchase the simple delivery label and choose your own way as you normally would?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's the buyer that buys the SD label, isn't it?
I'm waiting to see what happens after the 15th. Trying to guess how a clued-up company would implement something is usually easy. You can see the problem I have here though.

Hi there - I googled this problem and came across this thread, so apologies if I’ve missed anything, but how do I revert to the classical system please? Most of my items I sell are between 2 and 5kg, and this is driving me mad! TIA

When listing or revising a listing under postage select 'switch to advanced options' click again on advanced in the banner if you get it then complete postage as required. Possibly after 15th this will not be possible.

Sorry, you can't ☹️
In 3 days time (the 15th) S.D. will be mandatory for every private seller on ebay UK.
Lots of us have already given up selling in despair 😢
(Which means we're no longer buying the 'treats' off ebay with the money accumulated through the selling 😭 )

What seems completely wrong with SD is telling sellers if they exclude Evri from their postage options their postage can be higher, their listing visibility less, their payout impacted. This seems anti competition however it is ebays platform and by using we agree to their terms and if we dont like them we simply have the option of closing our account. Sadly our issue is that ebay is such a household word, advertises extensively and appears on google whereas others that could be competition dont like the other eb.

I think this is what V charge (they dont advertise their costs until you buy something)
Up to 500g - Evri £2.99/ RM £3.39
501g to 1kg - Evri £4.29/ RM £5.09
1kg to 2kg - Evri £6.29/RM £6.59
This is for the buyers home delivery option, it is slightly cheaper for delivery to an Evri parcelshop. There is no large letter option and I cant find the price for over 2kg.
No Royal Mail home collection. Insurance is up to £500 for Evri and £150 for RM. V will override your settings if your chosen courier doesnt deliver eg Evri dont deliver to parts of Scotland so if you only use Evri, Vinted will select RM for those buyers but you can cancel the order without affecting your rating.
For me, the problem with the Ebay model is the buyer being penalised for the sellers choices by having to pay more. I guess the easy way around this is to have both couriers but put in the first line of the description that you will only use RM (or Evri) and hope the buyer reads it.

Vinted don’t override sellers postage preferences
if I disable evri I will never get an evri label because buyer won’t have the evri option to chose
having said that vinted have other curiosities going on
i had evri enabled for a long time ( when I had a local shop then I disabled it when it was no longer there) but I never once got an evri order
buyers told me it wasn’t even in their choices when it should have been because both they and I had evri parcelshop near us
it may have been a case of vinted pushing inpost and talking rubbish about it depends on your location the buyers location etc
a bit like eBay pushing evri now
