Simple delivery costs considerabily more than the proper service

I've noticed today while trying to list an item that the simple delivery for what would be a medium parcel (6.65 RM 48) starts upwards of £10 (and they can choose between Evri and RM).

I can still choose the classical way, but if they remove it, this would make it a hidden extra fee on top of the buyer protection/selling fee, in my opinion at least.

I mean, who wants to 10.5 to Evri/Hermes for a gamble on "we're sorry we've missed you (since we never actually came by)" perpetual check?

Not seelcting promotion is not even a thing for me, I've always thought of it as an extra fee, so I always choose 5%. Better something than nothing, I thought. A small tip of sorts. It seems to have worked so far.

Always have been for years. I bypass eBay shipping altogether and go to Royal Mail

The problem I see with paying for promoting items is that, If everybody paid for promoting, then ultimately nothing is actually being promoted. Greedbay would effectively be just rinsing the sellers.

Yeah... it's rather like  supermarket loyalty cards that give  'special discounted prices'!  Well, when over 90% of shoppers have the card, what they are paying are normal  prices.....

Re: Simple delivery costs considerabily more than the proper service

Today I received a message that for private sellers Simple Delivery will be mandatory starting April for eligible items. For myself in my category I can send items by Royal Mail letter post (mainly) or large letter which comes under the Universal Service Obligation of Royal Mail, so letters start at 87p 2nd class.  Why should I or the seller be expected to pay a massively increase to £2.73 to be forced to deliver their way, have to go to a Post Office  ½ mile away rather than the post box 150 metres away

. I have reported this issue to the CMA.

Re: Simple delivery costs considerabily more than the proper service

It is farcical.

Ultimately ebay don't want private sellers anymore. That much is clear - from the introduction of buyers fees, sellers having to pay to guarantee their listings are visible and now this.

These changes are only affecting the uk so perhaps the hmrc reporting has made ebay think twice about private sellers?

Re: Simple delivery costs considerabily more than the proper service

Gloabl shipping appears to be not working, it's saying contact seller for a postage quote where it used to show an actual price, so I guess thats been temporarily switched off?

Even if you untick evri it says prepaid royal mail or evri label will be provided and apparently theres a get out clase for ebay so they can force evri if they want.

The buyer will be paying the fee on the postage rates as well, and additionally its more pricey. For example instead of £3.39 tracked 48 its £3.74 for a very basic service.

And sellers now cannot include their packaging costs in the postage and packaging cost meaning all prices will increase to compensate for this too.

Ebay is literally cloneing vinted now.

And weirdly it's showing £3.74 for simple delivery but charging the buyer £4.80...for a small parcel...that you could pay £3.36 via tracked 48 for -_-

Yeah, this aint saving anyone money...its MAKING money for ebay.

What are the delivery costs on V?  And can you get RM with collection from your home?

Re: Simple delivery costs considerabily more than the proper service

Can anyone advise what comes up for the seller if you've sold something as free delivery?

can you not just purchase the simple delivery label and choose your own way as you normally would?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's the buyer that buys the SD label, isn't it?

I'm waiting to see what happens after the 15th.  Trying to guess how a clued-up company would implement something is usually easy.  You can see the problem I have here though.
