Is Simple Delivery mandatory now ? used to be able to select custom postage option but it’s not available now. Just tried listing and Simple Delivery is the only option for postage

Re: Simple Delivery

Had not realised that jewellery was not included in SD.

I just had a look at jewellery but also jewellery findings in st silver, the findings can go simple delivery but the made up jewellery in st silver is custom postage, it doesn't suggest a specific service. But even cheap costume jewellery doesn't seem to go via SD, that's a surprise...

Re: Simple Delivery

Simple delivery states no extra charge for collection by Royal Mail but when I go to book it there is a charge of 30p?

Re: Simple Delivery

Did you do that via the Royal Mail site or via eBay?

I've just arranged a collection and the label to come with postie and no extra charge.

Clicked on get label, and the box on the right has a link something like: need to make a booking, click on that. And should get a box with the day of collection (cut off in the evening is earlier than when using the RM site). I then click a print label button but don't print it! It seems to need the click on label to make it work. It didn't work the first time I used it...

Re: Simple Delivery

screen shots of process as just done another. click need courier collection in right hand box

confirm or choose day

then the get prepaid label or qr code changes to get prepaid label and click on that.

the first time I did it it didn't work. But since hen has been fine, but it does seem to need to click on prepaid label...

I write address on package.

I did print out the next two times and postie said, yes, most that he had collected from other people had not needed his label! I

Re: Simple Delivery

By ebay. When I clicked on arrange a collection it took me to the Royal mail website unlike last time I did it when it stayed on ebay. I cannot keep up with ebay there always seems to be some sort of issue going on.

Re: Simple Delivery

When I had something still listed without SD and I went to buy the label via eBay there was a charge and it took me to RM website. Sounds like a glitch, which is frustrating. Did you let eBay know?

Re: Simple Delivery

Yes I asked how something that had to be listed using sd (clothing which has been mandatory for some time) could suddenly use packlink. There was nothing to suggest it wasn't sd, I didn't have to enter any size/weight when purchasing the label - I didn't know anything about it until I got the excess charge 3 weeks later. Ebay have only confirmed I used a packlink label and referred me to packlink. Packlink just tell me it was over the label weight and therefore I have to pay. Its worrying because if it is a glitch and there is nothing to flag up at the time, it could possibly happen to anyone at any time.

Re: Simple Delivery

No I decided to not have it collected and will take it to the PO myself tomorrow when I am out anyway. Ebay is just a pain these days.

Re: Simple Delivery

that is a pain. so far since everything I have now got listed is SD and the label has been simple delivery. It was odd to have some things that had changed via ebay to SD while one item hadn't.

Your listings, have a postage price but don't say standard tracked after the price, which SD does say, you might want to check through them and check they are simple delivery.

Re: Simple Delivery

Thanks but think they have all been made SD. The one I just sold the label was already there I did not have to buy it.

Re: Simple Delivery

I have not sold anything on Ebay for over 3 months now. I found that it was becoming more complicated and I was not enjoying the process anymore. I have just gone to list a helmet. SIMPLE DELIVERY! What kind of new hell is this? I dont understand it, dont want it and dont seem to be able to opt out. I think I will give it a miss again until ebay gets bought out or at least Simple Delivery vanishes. Ebay used to be easy to use but now it's just a pain (It really makes my chest ache!). I'm off now for my health and sanitys sake, bye.

Re: Simple Delivery

I'm finding Simple delivery OK - it's not so brilliant at combining post when someone buys 2 items at auction (only happened once so far, made 2 items into small parcel when it would have been ok in large letter; if the system allowed actual weight to be added it might manage it better), also prices a fraction higher if you opt out of one or other provider - Evri drop off is too far for me. It's not so good for low value items, though the system now seems pretty good at offering non tracked postage for certain small/slim items.

The best thing for me is having Royal Mail bring the label and collect for free. This is going to be very useful when we have no driver for 6 weeks starting next week...

Re: Simple Delivery

I just found out yesterday I was enrolled in Simple Delivery, which was the thing I was avoiding since months it seems, I didn't mind if I always had the choice, and since I am on Ebay since long time I learnt years ago to send a proper parcel everywhere I don't need them, it is the same reason why I avoided Vinted for so long, and now I have it here. I already refused to renew 60+ of my listings with that, I don't take responsability for stuff done by third parts, I also had to sue Evri so unless buyers'name is on the labels as sender, I refuse to do any posting by them, they have to chase them for months and bring them to Court. I guess it will be all collection only with the chance to contact me for posting if needed. Just another assle as buyer, since I refuse to pay more because Evri tried with me, and the reason I buy second hand here is because posting was clearly written and choose by sellers, and they are open to request from buyers, so an agreement and a choice was always available, without to explain to the seller how to post a proper parcel works, since on Ebay most of people knows already how. It was quick and easy, now it is a nightmare like on other website so what makes Ebay better now? I hope they make this a choice again for sellers and buyers, so everyone can be happy of the service, it wasn't so hard, just leave the stuff to sellers and buyers' choice.

Re: Simple Delivery

I don't think, after 7 months, Ebay will make Simple Delivery a choice.

Most of your issues seem to be with Evri - of course, you do not have to use Evri and can opt to use Royal Mail only while benefitting from the cover Ebay provide you and your buyer with Simple Delivery.

You do if the item is too large for Royal Mail!

Re: Simple Delivery

It is not only Evri, as I said I won't take any responsability if someone else mess up with my parcels, since Ebay deem you responsable for weight, sizes, delays and items I refuse to do that, unless I am a stranger and they care about it, like if any problems Ebay pay consequences, not me. I don't have any cover, any mess they do "on my behalf" they still manage the case for me and I doubt they look in for an entire months of English Law to win a cause in a Trial, for me, so I don't feel covered at all by them. I can just have the same cover i have when i buy the postage label myself and if any opf my rights is scraped off, i can fight in Court for it and win it.

Re: Simple Delivery

Hope this helps. I have set my option up for Royal Mail only. Initially I had strong reservations about Simple Delivery but I now find it surprisingly quick and efficient particularly for posting with Royal Mail and my parcels are actually getting delivered in super quick time.

Re: Simple Delivery

Hi, I start over again, I am perfectly happy of me posting by Royal Mail services since years and they have always been collected at my doors fine even without the Ebay Simple Delivery, which endanger me, since I am still responsable for parcels weight, sizes, packings (not reimbursed by Ebay) and such, since I spent money to print and make them properly (no black bin bags or cereal boxes) and everything they send for me, any problems, I am responsible for them, not they, and I don't find this right, since they wouldn't care and I have all to loose, so since the risk is too high, I prefer not to post by Simple Delivery. Maybe it is clear like this.

Re: Simple Delivery

Not really.

I genuinely can't see the difference between choosing Royal Mail Tracked 48 and sending using Royal Mail Tracked 48 with Ebay - only, if I use Simple Delivery, the item is covered for up to £750 (£75 if I buy direct from Royal Mail) and, with Simple Delivery, Ebay will deal with buyers if items arrive damaged or get 'lost in the post'.  So, for me, Simple Delivery is superior.

However, you have your view and I have mine.

Adults do sometime have to agree to differ,

Re: Simple Delivery

I disagree. First I have very few items or none at more then 750£.
The difference is, if I respect the weight and size, and packing with air cushion and such, or make all addresses and labels correct, I have no problems at all, if I do this and then Ebay come to tell me something isn't correct, I have no way to prove it or any defence. I have no communications with the buyer should something be not right, or unhappy, they completely exclude you from it. I worked in customer service and shops, daughter of people with a family shops, I grew up in one, I know how to deal with people and no need any baby sitting not required. So since it puts me in danger to be over charged or worst if I post by Simple Delivery, I just have to cancel it. I will post my 60+ items once again when I can deal delivery myself again on my behalf, not anyone else.
