Simple Delivery

Yet another month of almost ZERO sales and all due to ebays so called buyer protection fee (you already have ebay money back guarantee so why do you need another) and simple delivery being forced upon sellers.

All this is to recoup the previous removal of selling fees.....Nothing but greed.

But the BPF *is* only there to recoup what used to be covered by the sellers fees... the old sellers fees covered the MGB for instance.

Ebay aren't 'doubling up' on fees here; all the buyers fees are doing is replacing the sellers fees. That few months of totally fee-free selling, at the end of last year, was just bait to drag in as many new private sellers as possible before bringing in the new (admittedly horrible) system.

I don't like ebay now, and have stopped selling, but even I can see that ebay *have* to charge for their services one way or another. Things like secure payment, the MBG and even the (awful) customer services have to be paid for. Ebay are a business.

S.D. mind you,  is just there to be yet another 'income stream' ; got nothing whatsoever to do with 'simplicity' ....

Why do you think this is the reason for no sales?
I looked at 3 of your unsold CDs, picked at random:

1. priced at 7.99 + 4.50 postage
Available from another seller for 6.44 inclusive.

2. priced at 5.91 + 4.50 postage

Available from 1.90 inclusive!

3. priced at 9.03 + 4.50 postage

Available for 5.98 inclusive.

So, it may be more to do with your prices and your postage charge, which seems rather high. (I tried 'sell one like this' on one of your CDs gives a SD price of only £2.70 - that would cover up to £750 and any lost or arriving damaged would be covered by eBay)

Re: Simple Delivery

e-Bay exists to make money for it's owners, the same as any business.  The Buyer Protection Fee pays for the Money Back Guarantee.  On all the things I've sold recently the BPF has been lower than the old Seller Fees would have been, even before the resent tweak to it, so e-Bay have made less money on them.

No doubt Simple Delivery is profitable for e-Bay or they wouldn't have done it but it's hard to see how when they under-estimate, but still honour, the postage charges so often.

I imagine because the over -estimated and over paid parcels outweigh the under-estimated and under paid parcels.

Not to mention the extremely lucrative contracts ebay will have made with Evri and R.M.

(Ask any huge business how much they pay for postage when they have a delivery contract : it's going to be pennies compared with us normal mortals just going to the post office....and the S.D. quoted prices are already the same, if not higher,  than just getting the equivalent service from the postie)

Re: Simple Delivery

An SD 2kg small parcel is £3.38.  It's £3.45 direct from RM, £4.05 at a Post Office or £4.79 from Evri, and for the latter you have to take it to one of their shops whereas the £3.38 includes free RM collection.

Some of the complaints about over-charging are coming from people who are listing in categories where they can set their own postage but don't know how.

There will be Winners and Losers with any change.  I'm certainly a Winner.

Re: Simple Delivery

That's exactly what i'm talking about.
This cost includes packaging and as a private seller packaging costs me around £2 for bubble wrap and a purpose made 8"x 8" box to send 40 records so i'm out of pocket straight away.
