Simple Delivery

Is Simple Delivery mandatory now ? used to be able to select custom postage option but it’s not available now. Just tried listing and Simple Delivery is the only option for postage

Re: Simple Delivery

"See this for how the postage rate band should be chosen (which determines the price):

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/posting-items/setting-postage-options/simple-delivery?id=5575#se..."

Unfortunately, on the site itself eBay doesn't always follow it's own rules.  For example I was totally unable (and believe me I tried) to force EVRI delivery option for an item 93cm in length.  Ebay insisted it went Royal Mail - against it's own rules.

Re: Simple Delivery

Hi
eBay changed all the postage and delivery details I had entered. With Simple delivery we now have to change our prices to also accommodate packaging, ie boxes, bags, bubble wrap, tape which also have a cost (to us) and eBay charges a percentage buyers premium so they’re making more again there. That’s my understanding anyway.

Re: Simple Delivery

Yes, Ebay will charge buyer fees on whatever packaging costs you've been forced to add to the item price, because SD won't let you add to the postage.

Even worse, if you sell 'freepost' (include the costs in the item price) the buyer has to pay buyer fees on the postage part too.

You may be forced to use freepost where an item is prohibited from SD but absolutely fine with the carrier, like postage stamps. And even then you still have the faff of begging Ebay for a refund of the useless SD label they provided.

The only alternative is to force an opt-out of SD by changing the dimensions of your package and using custom postage. Or listing it under 'Furniture'?

The one thing Ebay has guaranteed with SD is it is NOT Simple.

Re: Simple Delivery

Please don't withhold buyers' address details even though labels are provided. I have 2 boxes and the Royal Mail was not amused. We need HOUSE NUMBER AND POST CODE.

Why do you make life difficult for me by making me buyer the label 48 hours in advance? Instead of items being collected tomorrow if I order tonight, Royal Mail is only allowed to collect after 48 hours. Never in a MILLION YEAR WILL I USE EVRI AS LAST TIME THEY LOST MY PARCEL, MY BUYER WAS TRAUMATISED AND I WAS TRAUMATISED TRYING TO GET MY REFUND £10 INSTEAD OF £12. You have no respect for your private sellers.

Re: Simple Delivery

So sold our first item yesterday with SD the buyer chose EVRI no problem, until you go to drop it off and guess what the nearest store we could use is closed so end up looking for other drop-off locations. Think in future won't bother with Evri will just use Royal Mail.

'Participating' Post Offices will now accept Evri parcels. https://www.postoffice.co.uk/mail/dropoff/evri

Re: Simple Delivery

I put a note on my pages saying I only use Royal Mail and have changed the delivery option to Royal Mail only. Nearest Evri drop off for me is a good old hoof away.

Re: Simple Delivery

I had put Royal Mail tracked 48 hr delivery but eBay changed it to Simple Mail with Evri and made no provision for all the packaging.

Re: Simple Delivery

Thats the way it works now, I would imagine that most private sellers now have been converted to "Simple Delivery", you need to add somthing to your start price to cover the packaging and if you don't want to use Evri turn it off in your postage preferences and just use RM.
