Greetings,
A weird one! Sent off a small parcel Royal Mail Tracked 48 via Simple Delivery. Tracking says it was delivered on the following day by Yorkshire Distribution Centre YDC Parcel Hub to an address well over 200 miles away! There is just a signature 'YPH' but no photo or GPS data. Buyer was rightly concerned so I spoke to
RM customer service who advised that it might just be stalled somewhere in the system and to wait a day or so.
Anyway, a couple of days later the buyer opened an INR case which closed this morning without a refund as eBay said that they have tracking info which shows delivery to the buyer's address. However, the buyer then appealed and now eBay has reversed the decision and deducted the amount (over £40) from my funds. The item is obviously lost and, as it was sent Simple Delivery, I don't understand why the refund wasn't covered by eBay. Any advice on what to do now would be much appreciated.

Are you sure it was SD. Could you add some screen shots? What was it you sold?

All the sold listings appear to be simpleton delivery.

It should be possible for you to appeal the decision, or perhaps contact Customer Services, who should be able to sort this out for you.
'If you don't agree with our resolution when we've stepped in to help resolve an issue, you can appeal by providing new information within 30 calendar days of the case being closed.'
But if it was sent via Simple Delivery, it is odd that the refund wasn't automatically issued to the buyer. The tracking - even if it was incorrect - shows delivered, so I don't know why you have been made to refund?

Absolutely sure it was simple delivery. Sorry couldn't do screenshots as they come in png files hope the attached works OK

You have to get on to CS and get this reversed. Please let us know what the outcome is. It's very odd indeed. Sorry couldn't be more help.

Will contact CS tomorrow morning and then report the outcome here.
Not a happy bunny tonight !

This forum accepts .PNG files.

Ebay may be thinking it was delivered to wrong address because you sent it to wrong address.

It was a Simple Delivery item so the address it was sent to was the one eBay put on the label they provided. In any case, the tracking info was very odd -- said the parcel had been delivered by the Yorkshire Parcel Hub when the buyer 's address (on the label) was in Hampshire.

Tried to upload .png screenshot but it was rejected -- said only accepted .jpg and .gif

P.S. And I didn't mix up parcels either as it was the only one on that day.

How odd — the above is a PNG.
EDIT: Solved it. If you just drag an image into the box below where you compose your post it does indeed have to be a JPG or GIF. PNGs are OK if you click the camera icon at the top of said box.

That's really useful info -- thank you. I didn't know that there's a difference between the two ways of uploading images.

Update:
Good news!
I contacted CS this morning and they admitted that taking the buyer's refund from me was an error. The money has reappeared in my balance so all is well again on my side as well as the buyer's.
Simple Delivery does seem to be one poorly thought-out and executed mess.
Many thanks to everyone.

"contacted CS this morning and they admitted that taking the buyer's refund from me was an error"!
Glad you were refunded - correctly. But really it shouldn't have happened in the first place! And how many other sellers are having this happen to?

You're absolutely right -- it shouldn't have happened at all. Let's just hope it was a one-off mistake by an overseas agent less clued up about the 'monetary experiment ' operating in the UK.
IMHO eBay taking responsibility for lost and damaged items is the one and only good thing about Simple Delivery.

lost yes, damaged... who knows, depends on how nice your buyer is and how much effort you put in complaining to customer services.
