I have received an email this morning asking for feedback as to why I chose custom delivery for the last item I listed which along with all my other listings I ended at the weekend as I didn’t want to get sucked into Simple Delivery.
I have given my reasons as succinctly as I can, making clear that I do not expect to receive eBay’s services for free (all auction houses levy commission on sellers and buyers after all) but equally I want no part in in them holding onto payments longer than they need to and profiteering by the back door on the pretence that they are doing us a favour with special delivery and the buyers premium.
For me personally I’m not bothered about the lack of courier choice as I have only ever used Royal Mail and that’s still an option, but I do not want eBay buying my postage for me when it’s straightforward and problem free for me to do it myself

Excellent post.
I am surprised eBay ask for information and reasons. They never listen.
They think it’s eBays way or no way ….
Tell them, they are losing buyers and sellers every day … rather don’t tell them as they don’t listen.

I suppose it would be to much to hope for, for ebay to ask all the folk on here who do not want to use SD just why they don't want to use this despised system.

I would rather milk goats with my mouth than give them any more business.

I did not get that email, perhaps because I only had four listings up when I removed them on Friday - I wish I had, I’d have told them the same as you - perhaps not quite so well though!
As I live in the Scottish Highlands I can add that penalising me with higher Royal Mail Postage rates for being unable to use any other service is the main reason for not using ebay from now on. Royal Mail are obliged to service all areas of the UK without surcharge for rural locations, why are ebay allowed to add it?

I'd have loved to have received that email...

I have received one of these research emails but am stuck in a loop when trying to tick the boxes indicating why I do not wish to use Simple Delivery via either Evri or Royal Mail. I prefer to use custom delivery as in the past.

Yes, it is very unfair when you have no choice of courier because of living somewhere remote, although with Simple Delivery, no matter where you live, the Royal Mail postage rates are much higher if you choose to exclude Evri. It is all very unsatisfactory!

When I select both delivery services the prices look comparable to what I am currently paying but as it will be an 8 mile journey to post an Evri parcel (why don't they have pick up for Evri- they do pick up!) then this is not feasible for me when currently I just walk to the PO.
Now the new system doesn't have a small parcel / medium parcel selection instead everything goes medium and the price is governed by the weight. So if I send a 1kg parcel using RM it will be £3.74 currently £3.35 small and £4.95 medium. If I send a 2kg parcel it will be £4.27 currently £3.35 small & £4.95 medium.
The true madness starts if you send any parcels that weigh over 2kg, as currently RM prices are £6.55 for up to 10kg but they will now be £10.55 for up to 15kg.
There is no way that my pots will sell with that sort of price tag for postage. If I include Evri as an option then the price falls to £7.19. Still on the higher side of the current RM price.
It's a dilemma as if I include Evri I would only be able to post twice a week whereas I currently post everyday.
Perhaps this is going to drive me to try the other channel that they are currently competing with. I haven't in the past because I don't like their postage system!!!

I had 159 finishing on Sunday. And I deliberately finished them then to avoid possibly getting transferred over to SD on the 7th.
Shame I didn't get the email either.

Yes, I mentioned this when I got one, and urged other to fill them in if they received one. No one seemed particularly interested though!
Good to know they are still sending them out. Let's hope they take note of the responses.

why don't they have pick up for Evri- they do pick up!
EVRi do pick up - but they charge extra for pick up and RM don't.
EVRi pick up = less profit for eBay. That's why it's not offered.

I received the email today and got stuck in that loop - I had to tick a few boxes in the RM list to progress to the next stage.
