It might seem an easy option but I won't buy from sellers who use the lazy option for descriptions, it's sometimes completely wrong or just nonsense and does not tell me want I want to know to make a buying descision so I don't.
I want real descriptions of the item not made up ones by a machine!
I recently looked at some Lens filters and I was informed they were circular, obviously the pics weren't a clue....LOL. What I want to know is the condition of the glass, nothing else not that they are a great item to have in my kit....Yawn.
Technology is even making websites dumb.

There is no need to be using all this AI, just put *** L@@K ***in the title and use the word 'rare' in the description 200 times MINIMUM. Classic eBay, has never stopped working, you know I'm right!

What would you take for that piece of string?

If the description is machine generated it looks like the seller can't be bothered - and I return the sentiment.

Another fabulous AI description...
"This exquisite print by Pablo Picasso depicts the Battle of Anis Del Mono, a significant event in Spanish history... This is a must-have for any art collector or lover of Spanish history."
The painting is titled "Bottle of Anis del Mono" or "L'Anis Del Mono", but because the seller mis-spelt it as "Battle of Anis del Mono" AI invented a historical Spanish battle!
I shall write to the seller...
(Anis del Mono is a Spanish aniseed-based liqueur similar to the French Pernod, definitely recommended!)

To their credit, the seller replied immediately to thank me, removed the AI description and added a more accurate description of their own.

😄
I wonder if the new description will let me know...."This is a must-have...." As nearly everything I've read with AI, I apparently must have....😉
Thanks for the recommendation. 😊

That really would have been exasperating but sadly no, the new description doesn't state the print is a must-have! The seller has been very sensible and just stated the correct name of the painting and that it is a Spanish liqueur.
You're welcome! 🍸😀

Agreed - most of the time eBay’s AI comes out with sycophantic drivel. If a seller can’t be bothered to take the time to describe the item they are selling, I can’t be bothered to spend my hard earned money on their item.

I see 2 issues here as i have been testing A.I for about 3 months now, if you are judging A.I from ebay then you are 100% correct because eBay A.I is a poor, But if you use like Gemini and understand how to set it up then its an amazing tool i do not know what version ebay is using but it is worst than chatGBT

Totally wrong in regards to detail, BUT if you are using eBay AI then i agree

A lot of companies are really leaning into this AI stuff before thinking about whether they should. It is obviously a terrible idea for used items that require specific details regarding condition and functionality that AI won't be able to identify. There is NO AI that can read your mind. You know what would work? Spending 5 minutes to write some accurate details about the item you're selling. Pretty crazy isn't it.
