Seller protection

I sold a brand new sealed tablet on buy it now, all with photos evidencing such and buyer received item. 8 days pass and buyer raised a return request for changed my mind and added notes not as described.  They also added photos showing tablet opened on their bed on both sides, so they have opened and used item at least a week. I refused as item not in same condition as delivered, seal broken and used as evidenced by their photo.

I'm worried they will then raise another request as changed mind didn't work and make false claim like not working order and that eBay are not going to protect me or have no common sense to see buyer tried return for one reason and then try another reason because wasn't granted.  In a court of law a judge would see clearly that you tried A to get out of something, so when that didn't work you tried the trusted method. This tablet retails for £259, if they return it opened and used, not sealed and in poor condition as photos they sent looked, I will get zilch from those retailers that buy, like 20% if that.

Where is my protection from ebayer if this happens as a seller with good reputation and.a.buyer with no feedback can abuse the process? I fear I will be put of pocket by £259 and ebay will be useless, give me no support or protection feom.abusrrs like this.

Your buyer cannot open another case through Ebay.

They only get one chance to use the Money Back Guarantee and, because they chose a 'change of mind' reason, you were able to refuse and close the case.

They may now decide to start a chargeback through their payment provider.

If they do that, the case will be decided by their bank or credit card company and outside of Ebay's control.
