I'm in the UK. Got notified about this by Florida case by Sriplaw Attorney Joel B. Rothman last week. I'm a private seller, had a single nato strap listing removed by ebay under VeRO rules two weeks ago. Sounds like they are accusing me of counterfeiting, copyright theft etc. Am reading up on these SAD cases now. Posting to try and connect with others perhaps in the same or similar situation.

That's excellent, but is the "attached complaint" (to which you are expected to reply) also available?

And did they - as they often do - furnish you with a Screensave of what is supposed to have offended them?

I received this e mail today from international Watchman lawyers


Hello wristworx

International Watchman filed a lawsuit in the United States claiming that your account was used to sell inauthentic International Watchman products.  The court has ruled that you have forfeited your legal defense, and you are ordered to no longer list NATO items. Please be sure to review your listings and remove any listings that infringe on the plaintiff’s intellectual property. Do not attempt to relist these products or use NATO in any other listing titles or descriptions.  Doing so may result in your account being permanently disabled. International Watchman can be contacted through their attorneys at the following email address: 

Basically a cease and desist
I assume that Omega have received the same email as they still sell NATO straps on their website
Obviously they are not going to prosecute as the cost is prohibiting for them
Hopefully this reassures everyone that they are not taking things further
I’m going to change my straps to James Bond style straps instead of NATO
Maybe Amazon own that word now !!!!

Have they produced any evidence of what you were selling? If so, first respond by asking them for proof of the listing, without which they will be unable to meet the evidential bar. They are seeking to extort $ from yours a  a license fee for using (or for having used) what are actually historic, generic watch industry terms. Are you able to drop your email here, for private contact?

Yes have had several e mails

i replied to a few but now i ignore them

They sent me court documents listing my eBay site basically a screen shot

 I somehow doubt they will engage a firm of UK lawyers as they won’t spend the money

Thanks for your reply. I'm reluctant to even acknowledge their email, as I previously mentioned, it could easily have gone to my spam and I'd never have seen it.

I'm hoping that they'll just go away, it sounds like scare tactics to try to extract money from ordinary people to me.
