Hopefully you haven't refunded yet?

First thing to do is report the buyer to Action Fraud online and get a case number.

Next, report the buyer to ebay and give them the case number and this should put an automatic stop on them refunding until the case has been looked at. Explain to them that your buyer has smashed the drone and that they have rendered it useless.

Ebay may take your side but it is never guaranteed. Sometimes they will refund the buyer fro their own funds so you get to keep yours.

Sadly if you've already refunded you will now have to follow the appeal process.

@ar3dken

This isn't eBay, it's run by an independent group that have set forum guidelines.

There are only 4 eBay accounts here that I've seen.

The ones that moderated your post/,title are from this forum, not eBay.

I know the above doesn't help your situation but just trying to explain so you don't feel you're being ganged up on.

Just so you know you aren't the only user that's made the mistake of listening to eBay CS. Loads have, myself included and after coming here I found out most of what they say is utter rubbish.

If the Mentors/other experienced users here can help you, they will. Alot of knowledge here.

Unfortunately, as you have discovered, the advice given by the customer service representative was incorrect.

The correct process in a situation such as this is to report to Action Fraud and obtain a reference number then use the 'Report a problem' option in the return case, not the 'Ask eBay to step in and help' one, select the appropriate reason and upload the Action Fraud reference along with as much detail of the problem as possible.  That will then stop the standard return process effectively opening a new case and eBay will then review the evidence provided and make a decision.

As you have already refunded you will now have to use the appeal process.  You still need to report to Action Fraud and obtain a reference number first though.

If you wish to speak to a customer service representative it is best to request a callback first thing in the morning so that you get someone from the team in Ireland who are more knowledgeable and have greater authority.

You'd only make an Actionfraud report if a different item has been returned, i.e. the buyer switched the item.

If your item has been returned in a damaged state then there's an option to report the buyer (ideally, do this before the refund is made). You should be able to upload some evidence.
