Just had this message from someone who bought some flat wire, I wrapped it in cardboard and put in Jiffy bag. The buyer chose Evri as there postage this is message from the seller
Hello..i don't know how to tell you..but i only received an empy envelope with a rip along the the top..i don't know where the steel is..was it heavy?..and burst open somewhere..i don't know...i know this sounds like i'm trying to con you but i'm not..the evri woman i know quite well and she allways brings the stuff to the front door..this time she must have thrown it over the back gate knowing there was nothing inside..she must have realised....i don't know what else to say..Steve.

That seems about right.
You appear to drawn the "Evri won't deliver the parcel correctly" card, sadly.
There are about 45 of them in a standard deck.

Simple Delivery? Postage problems are ebay's problem tell the buyer to report directly to ebay via the item not received method. Don't refund yourself.

This is because eBay forced this simple delivery on sellers. They take commission of evri charge the buyer £1.20 for there money back guarantee. Now buyer wants me to refund him

'Now buyer wants me to refund him '
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you used the Simple Delivery system, you are *not* liable to refund him.
Ebay state that S.D. items 'lost in the post or damaged in the post' are ebay's responsibility.
Ebay should be refunding him.
Tell your buyer *not* to open an 'item not received' case; that won't work because something has been delivered, so the tracking is marked as delivered.
Your buyer needs to open a case for the item being damaged in the post. And ebay should cough up.

The buyer needs to open a return request using the reason 'Item arrived damaged'. Ebay should then refund automatically as the item was sent with Simple Delivery.
Opening an 'Item not received' claim will be no good as the buyer has received something albeit just an empty envelope.

Item will have been clocked as delivered
be interesting to see how this pans out
how eBay deals with missing items from parcels
seeing as eBay have shares in evris owning company perhaps they can suggest weighing parcels once received and once handed to delivery driver

Ebay have shares in Evri?

As far as I can tell you can't choose and it just says standard delivery until after you pay then it says evri. Very sneaky and this is why I'm stopping buying anything anymore. They have burned their increasingly rickety bridge as far as I'm concerned.

Ahhhh now it becomes clear. 😊

If they know the evri delivery driver quite well surely the last thing they would have done was throw it over the fence?
Something feels wrong here but if it was SD it will/should be ebay that pays up.
Beware the 'incorrectly packaged' clause though.

I will call it out, that is a typical scam message.
They will always say they aren't out to scam/con/cheat use whatever you wish, this isn't language a genuine person would use if they had an issue, why would a genuine buyer say such things, it would go without saying they aren't a fraudster so why mention this?
Also there should be a delivery picture so this would show where it was thrown and if the package was damaged.
It has been pointed out that if they knew the driver well they wouldn't lob it over fence, they would knock on an apologise for the damage and ask what do they wish to do with the parcel because it can be rejected.

Good point about the pictures and also the fact that they know the driver / maybe ebay will look into this, but will not hold my breath

Temporary, holiday or illness replacement driver, maybe......I've recently lost a parcel when my normal postie was away (parcel 'marked as delivered'- just not to me ☹️)

Message to tell them to go through eBay's dispute programme in the correct manner. Don't deal directly with the buyer.

Very typical of Evri. only yesterday I had a parcel arrive and just left on my doorstep just waiting to be nabbed by one of my adorable neighbours. they didnt even knock. only knew it had arrived as I happened checked my email and their was a picture of the item, sitting on the doorstep. why they don't knock is beyond me. I heard these Evri delivery people only get about 50p per delivery so that might have something to do with it.

If the Evri driver is known and trusted, chances are the parcel was left on the doorstep and has been nicked by someone else, who opened it and chucked the envelope over the fence. The wire, almost certainly useless to the thief, is probably lying around or in a bin, somewhere nearby.
The buyer doesn't claim to have spoken to the Evri lady; he is just making a (probably wrong) assumption.
