Receiving payment - rule change

I have received an email from Ebay stating that from Aug 6th I will now be paid for any sales 24 hrs  after payment is recd from buyer. Am I reading this correctly? Can we spend those funds or transfer to bank account?

So after all the fuss and palaver over the last year re buyers NOT allowed to get payments until 2 days after the item has actually been delivered. Ebay have now decided to update their procedures?

Yep, true see eBay News tab top left of this page then Announcement for the full policy changes and updates.

Payment will be released 24 hours after the buyer pays,  but into your eBay Balance,  for you to withdraw as per now!

I always keep the highest payment for a sold item for 30 days in my balance, just in case of a return.

......and eBay will whisk it out of your bank account if you receive a case for item not as described and no available money in your Payment Summary to cover the cost,   hence Vyolla's  ' method'  of avoiding this !  🤗

Yes, although it is tempting to whip the money out asap, I also prefer to leave enough there until all danger of a return has passed - oh, that heart-sinking moment when the dingly bell of doom goes off, with the 'return request' message... 🔔 🙄

Yes and yes, provided you meet the eligibility criteria - at least 10 completed sales with a combined total of £150 or more within the last 5 years, no more than 2 open return requests/cases, and no more than 2 defects received within the last 12 months.

How many defects are sellers getting at present for late delivery, I should think that sellers who use evri will never be eligible. Ebay have got you by the short and curlies no matter how good you try to be as a seller.

Maybe that is the idea - very few people will be eligible ever. That is without Royal Mail not collecting for a lot of people within the 2 days that they set on most new listings for dispatch.

I despair as to the future of ebay.

Late deliveries are not counted as transaction defects.  Transaction defects only relate to seller initiated cancellations and cases closed without seller resolution:

What this means

We count a transaction defect when either of these things happen: The seller cancels the order unexpectedly (e.g. because it was out of stock, or because they sold it to someone else) The buyer reports an issue, but the seller doesn't resolve it (a case closed without seller resolution, as defined in the section above)

I don't have anything set up for them to take any money out of my bank account, it will be a debit amount on my Ebay account! So there........hahaha

So - if  your bank details are not in your account settings, how are you able to withdraw money from your Ebay account to your bank account? It is not a one way street..

eBay do not let go if there are fees to be paid,  be aware they will use debt collectors.

Yes so if ever I have to cancel a transaction its always done for a reason that's not mine!

You do.

You have a direct debit agreement with them, even if you're not aware of it. If that's not in place then you wouldn't be receiving payments into your bank account in the first place.
