Reasons for returns ?...

(Just a quick note here about listings - I have noticed that when I make a revision even if it is only to change one word then somehow the dispatch time is automatically changing to " within 2 working days" which can be an issue).

Anyway point of this post. 2 claims have been made against me in the past 2 weeks. One buyer haggled over price and as others have pointed out Ebay's buyer fee makes it difficult to negotiate because no matter what price is agreed on the end result is always going to be more. Amounts ending in 11p seem to be popular.

The item was listed as having a chest measurement "About" -  23". Buyer then claimed item was not as described and complained that I had agreed on a price of £35 but charged £37 .....??. So to start with I was being blamed for Ebay's buyer fee. And secondly the measurements given were not pin point accurate. I said "about" as an estimated size. Buyer never asked about sizing. In my opinion any reasonably minded person would not expect something estimated to be about 23" to be exactly 23". Just to make matters worse I had upped the Postage to Royal Mail next day delivery at no extra charge.

So even when you mention that sizes are estimated ,roughly, around, about, somewhere around etc etc a buyer can then claim not as described if the actual size turns out to be slightly more or slightly less ?.

Even though Buyer was refunded in full and was sent a pre paid return label they still left negative feedback.

Second claim. Buyer purchased on Sunday 18th May. I'd revised the listing so dispatch time had changed without me noticing from 5 working days to 2 working days. Although I did not have to post until Tuesday 20th May I Posted on Monday 19th. Listing clearly stated that free postage was with a courier and delivery time was estimated at 5 working days. Meaning delivery would be the Saturday 24th at the earliest.

Twice Yodel attempted delivery. On the 3rd attempt Friday 23rd May Tracking changed to show " we need more information about your delivery address". I sent buyer a message asking them to contact Yodel with the location information 10 minutes after delivery was attempted.

Next day 24th May which was the given delivery date Buyer has put in a not received claim ?...

Any advice on what I should do ?. If Ebay force me to refund despite the tracking proving courier is asking for information on where the delivery address is but buyer is refusing to do so and then the parcel gets delivered what can I do ?.

Any advice on this second situation.

Re: Reasons for returns ?...

If you hadn't responded to the negative, eBay would probably have removed it on request, as they were at least partly complaining about BPF. But that may be unlikely now, as you chose to engage with them, even though your response was nearly correct (SELLER didn't pay £35 - BUYER didn't pay £35 - you received £35 - buyer would have paid £37.12)

Using ebay's Make an offer/Send an offer function? Or just writing in messages?
