I bought a track48 label through eBay and this morning a nice lady at the Post Office said that track48 with the YA number is not accepted and that I should contact the seller. does anyone have a similar problem? did ebay uk sell me a fake label?

It's not an SD problem. I've been lucky to avoid SD so far despite being a private seller but my generated label still had an issue.

Technically it's not ONLY a SD problem but if Ebay supplied a postage label and many sellers are obliged to use the label they supplied it most definitely IS.

same here all labels rejected total pain in the ****

so my postoffice took the item from me anyway even though it didnt scan and i got a basic proof of postage without any tracking.... tracking code still says they are expecting it..... horrible feeling this item is going to be 'lost' i bet....

I had the same issue yesterday. It was an older listing that sold and still had the custom delivery option and tried at 2 post offices and both post office clerks were confused and not seen this before. They also had other customers that day with same issue.
I have let the buyer know there is a problem and I will try again Monday lunchtime. My parcel was the new YA pre-fix and tracked 48. A parcel I posted Friday was a TQ code so must be this new prefix. I see there are no updates from ebay yet as must be national issue and a lot of sellers having the same frustration on a Saturday morning and a disappointment and impact on delivery to buyers.

Does anybody know if a label is printed off today it will be a valid label. I have 3 sales from yesterday and one from today. I cannot see the tracking number on any of these in the order details so I do not know if the tracking number prefix will be YA.
Still not heard from technical department that I was told I would hear within 24 hours, it’s now over 30 hours !

OK, so I have done this today and both labels were YA. Post office man said he could accept but there would be "No Tracking" - I sort of assumed in all my receipts (I had lots of items and didn't check). That I would have at least proof of receipt from them. There is nothing, however. Am I cooked? Items were valuable enough around £200.

"No tracking" sounds ominous. Did you check your items on eBay? Mine yesterday said "Accepted at Parcelshop" and today there have been several updates - the last on the Royal Mail side says it has arrived in Manchester, so it is being tracked. Perhaps the guy in the PO meant "No proof of posting" rather than "No tracking"?

You can check whether the tracking # is in Royal Mail's system here https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item#/
If so, your drop offs should by scanned by Royal Mail (different system than at the PO) at the MC late Monday afternoon / evening

Spoke to eBay on this and they advised to use the in post locker which I have just done and tracking works fine.

Getting rediculous now, ebay push you to use simple delivery, they deduct postage from you when sell, and then give you labels that donnt work, i refunded a buyee yesterday as i didnt have a clue why post office couldnt scan my label and now just sold a £380 pound item and ebay have given me a YA label, absolute sick of this

I've just carried 9 parcels to the PO, some of them quite large, to avoid turning out to-morrow in the incoming storm. I was told the issue is between RM & eBay. My items wouldn't be tracked and delivery wouldn't be updated to eBay as the link is broken for YA prefixes on labels. He said it should be sorted to-morrow. I carried them all home again and will wait to see what, if anything, changes to-morrow before doing anything drastic ie cancelling all the labels and re-printing then waiting for the refunds. eBay should be flagging up a warning BEFORE you buy a label with a YA prefix. Has anyone with a YA prefix tried editing the tracking number omitting the YA?

Just out of interest have you tried editing the tracking number omitting the YA prefix?

I think your post office doesn't know what he is on about.
I printed off an Ebay SD label yesterday morning with a YA tracking number. I dropped it into a parcel post box and have just checkrd the tracking on both Ebay and Royal Mail's websites and it has updated fine and is currently showing as being at the Jubilee MC. Someone else on here reported similar so looks like it all works ok if you don't take your parcels to the post office.

Ive booked a collection for pickup tomorrow from my house, lets see what happens and if they get scanned

Oh, great!🙄
Printed labels today for posting tomorrow (not Stupid Delivery, still old way), and hey-ho - YA tracking.

Thats not true, alot others and myself have been told the barcodes wont scan and wont accept parcels, this was saturday, maybe its been updated now, well i hope anyway
03-08-2025 9:03 PM
My parcel was posted Saturday morning at about 10 oclock in a parcel post box and the tracking on RM website updated at 16:49 on Saturday afternoon at Nottingham MC
Someone posted earlier on this thread to say they had bought a tracked 48 label through click and drop with a YA tracking number, nothing to do with Ebay, and that also wouldn't scan at the Post Office.
This is a yet another Post Office problem in their Horizon software, not an Ebay problem.

How would you recommend editing the barcode? Felt tip pen? 😀

That's funny, because it is specifically Ebay that's buying and supplying the labels it is asking Ebay sellers to use. Apparently, something to do with Simply-Not-Working Delivery?
