Non payment of auction bids

Buying at auction on Ebay, is like a contract, therefore Ebay should automatically take the payment from the buyer.

Too many times have we been left high and dry with non payment of highest bids, wasting weeks on the items.

Not only is it like a contract, it is a contract! But eBay allow non-payment which is better for Sellers as (otherwise you might have more Returns and suspicious INR and IND cases). Please don't let it take weeks of your time. Just let the unpaid items time out after 4-days to ding the Buyer's account, and add them to your Blocked List. This should help cut down on the repeat offenders to save time in the long run. If you send a 2nd Chance Offer to the next person, then that should save time more immediately.

No need to stress about it.  Can't force them to pay even though it is supposed to be a binding contract.

Just open a non-payment case as soon as you are able (people who want the item will pay) and close it after the 4 days.  As soon as I have any 'bovver' with a buyer I block them.  Then close the case when it can be done, buyer gets a black mark on their account and you can either offer a second chance (if they are still offered) or sell the item for the same price as a Buy it Now.  Stressing out only hurts you and your health.  If buyer gets enough black marks they won't be able to buy.

All of your current items and recent sales are buy it now.

You can set your account up to require instant payment for BIN items.

Have our masters figured out how to combine items for buyers when Instant Payment is requested, without  the Buyers having to pay up front separately and hope for a refund?

Also can sellers be identified without clicking into the item to check if Instant Payment has been opted for.

My answer to both questions is 'I don't know'.

However, I was responding to a seller and you are asking me questions from a buyer's point of view.  My response would solve the issue of non-payers for the OP.

Maybe you need to begin a new post where you ask your questions.

A seller can cancel an order if:

The buyer hasn't paid within the time allowed

If the buyer doesn't pay, the seller can cancel the order after 4 calendar days
