I always get a 70% off variable selling fees every 2 week and it is when I list. There is nothing on the "promotions" area of my home page either. Do any other private sellers have the same issue ? From what I have read on forums it is not guaranteed, but I have never not had one.

if you look under the heading you will see that my response was not to you at all! Unfortunately the site does not put the responses to a particular post under it, they go in time order.

I have the same issue and have regularly had the 70% discount but nothing last week and nothing this week. I tried to get a reason on live chat but the guy kept sending me a link to the contact us page to find out why - in other words he did not know and sent me a link to offer my customers discounts ! I explained many times as your query shows above but sadly ebay could not offer a reason for it. My account shows above standard so I assume it is with the new t & c's Sorry I could not help but it is to let you know it has happened to me this month too.

What about this weekend? Typically I would receive an inbox from eBay by the Friday 🤔 I have a backlog of items to list. It really makes a difference to receive the 70% discount and I've been hanging on for it.

Ebay fees are too high that's why we are all so concerned about missing "offer" emails.
If they stopped doing the 70% off personally I'd have to look for other Avenues to sell.

Depends how you look at it. I'm sending things into auction houses and as far as I can tell the fees will be 17.5%-20% plus there are extra flat fees on top of that.
The 70%/80% off ebay fees offer leaves people paying about 3%. Even at full fees what is it about 13% total? I really don't think it is high if you compare it to alternatives. I know Vinted is 0% fees but prices are usually cheaper so the seller may not end up any better off.

Have a look at the different avenues now, sadly nowhere else has the reach, protection and selling points that eBay do so whilst they might be slightly cheaper they dont offer value to cost like eBay. Its not that the full price selling fee's are too high its just that you can become accustomed to the discounted price. Whilst not great to hear eBay will give you the true market value of your goods so if you are only just trying to get rid of items to create space and not buying to sell for profit eBay even at full price is probably the best place to clear out unwanted items unless they are niche then a traditional auction house may be better.

I am happy to wait for my items to sell as they are just unwanted/don't fit etcs. E Bay still has the largest audience and as they say 'one man's tat is another man's treasure'. I have sold a few things on here that i would never normally expected to, most from my brother when he died. They included a couple of hundred pictures of aircraft (a bit of a nut for photography and planes) AND they were tobacco stained. Still managed to sell them, normally they would have been on the bonfire. Where else could you conveniently sell something like that for?? Then again as i frequently say, real private buyers are not in it for profit, if you make something extra it is a bonus in my view. (and rarely happens for my stuff but that is life)

Like melodygwen, it is the only time I list non clothing items. I guess they are trying to recoup the money lost on removing fees for selling clothing? Hopefully their listing figures will be down and they will realise they need to offer the fortnightly 70% off fees, otherwise it looks like I will have to start selling on other platforms ☹️

You make a good point about the zero fees for selling clothes. I rarely sell clothes, it's mostly homewares so this will clobber me hard. I like to keep my prices keen to move items quickly as they are personal items and I need the space. If I raise prices to compensate for the higher fees, my listings may sit there for longer. Ho-hum. It would be great to get some understanding of what is happening behind the scenes and the rationale for the change.

Ok so I had a quick snoop on reddit and while there's nothing solid to report, I did find a recent thread with glimmerings of a big change (in private sellers favour).

It was free to LIST (if you used no upgrades) and you paid fees if your item sold.
Now its free to sell so no fees are payable if your item sells (cars are excluded)
How is this fair to correctly registered Business Sellers? Yes i get the point that if private sellers make more they will buy more on the site....but personally i wont and Ebay cannot guarantee that strategy to help business sellers.

Yes i was reading everything to try and find the catch.
