NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

This was in a Spar but it's still a Post Office counter at the end of the day.

Thank you for reminding me to withdraw my remaining balance as I too can see no prospect of me selling on eBay in the foreseeable future, nor buying for that matter.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

  • The Post Office is owned by the government, and operates the 11,500 post offices around the UK. Royal Mail is owned by private shareholders, and runs the collection, sorting and delivery of post. So has ebay done a deal with the government then to get Post offices to do Simple delivery ,I don't think so .

They won't be taking anything away from me as a private seller, and I won't be selling on eBay, and I have a zero balance on the account. I hope many other people have now put them selves in the same position. eBay is a company with arrogant attitudes towards private sellers, and I for one will not put up with it.

@forestfeline62

Trustpilot reviews, I pay about as much attention to them as I do Amazon reviews.

If they take money and use for their own benefit then Ebay are your buyer and they are a middleman and they are selling it on to the eventual buyer .   That would need to tested in a court of law, I think it breaches some basic principles etc ( I am not an expert !)

I think all the seller is responsible for is getting it to Ebay specified courier and then you part of the deal is complete and the sellers payment should be made .   The delivery of the parcel is their responsibility if they sold you the postage with no other choice

If they are not going to do this then don't sell on Ebay which is what this post is all about.   Don't sell on Ebay , until they restore trust with their private sellers  .  The more people that don't the more Ebay will have do revert changes .

None of asked Ebay to process our payments they just did it .

When enough people stop selling Ebay they will have to change .

So technically it's RM depots and sorting offices that are responsible for accepting incorrect labels not post office counters ltd

Which is how it used to be RM24 & RM48 , sub postmasters did not have to accept them and many didn't

It won't be long that  reject all Ebay sold RM48 given the way this has shafted their business  and it will either by collection or an official drop of point

99% are franchises so will suffer if they are not selling stamps etc etc

The UK Post Office is owned by the government, specifically through the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and UK Government Investments (UKGI). It operates as a public corporation, according to GOV.UK. However, the majority of post offices (around 99%) are not directly managed by the Post Office but are operated by franchise partners or sub-postmasters, who are independent business people.

To give this extra exposure to my other forum post....Had our first SD sale and saw VAT 20%. As not VAT registered or charged contacted CS. Ebay charge 20% VAT on the cost of delivery because they are providing the service  and an enabler. So use SD and your postage fee is 20% more!

Order total
£15.10
eBay collected from buyer
Buyer Protection fee
-£1.16
Postage
-£2.45
VAT
-£0.49
Selling costs
Transaction fees

Order earnings
£11.00

Especially those writing to the Competitions people. Ebayers are forced to use a process that will incur extra charges to buyers. Maybe ebay have done a deal with Reeves to increase more VAT though I bet they claim it all back lol.

Great post. I and I think many others are doing this because we have strong feelings about this and as a matter of principle.

They are providing a dis-service to everyone. Charging VAT at 20% makes their claim that SD is 20% cheaper even more of a nonsense than it already was. Don’t they talk a load of *bleep*!

To be honest there's not many things that would surprise me nowadays. There's just no trust or belief anymore.

Just realised if ebay provide a postage label for a return do they add VAT? I think not on last one we had. Maybe a fubar.

EBay did make it clear they make interest on these funds in an T&C update October 2023.

Well that completely explains the unjustifiable 2-day payment delay.

I still think the absolutely worst thing that we've been told is that these changes will benefit everyone.
