NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Ebay should just trust sellers to pick custom postage anyway when they need or want it.

This marvelous SD is so good they have to force it on listings.

Even with the concessions I don't think ebay understand how offensive their position on postage is and why activity levels on this platform seem to have died this year. No tweaking will really fix - it needs a proper u-turn.

I don't have a printer or smartphone,  I have sold 2 items on SD, I screenshot the QR code on my tablet that eBay send me by email, take tablet to PO, they zap it and give me a receipt. No money changes hand between me and PO.

The problem is it doesn't. As with my (usable) postage stamps. I had to make out a small sheet is 'oversized' to get custom postage and will buy my postage from RM direct (rather than from RM via SD). Happily, the buyer saves 2p too!

In practice, you either sell it with custom postage or it may not get listed at all.

Sorry my mistake. But most people will know what I mean. Have you noticed
that Parcel Force is now available on the Royal Mail app even though they
are separate companies?

Parcelforce is just a business area within the Royal Mail.

I'm still shocked that the government allowed RM (IDS plc) to be taken over by EP Group.

Strangely until recently (I must admit I haven’t tried recently ) Parcel
Force tracking numbers weren’t accepted by the Royal Mail app and vice
versa. Also you couldn’t take a Parcel Force parcel to the Post Office, it
had to go to the Parcel Force depot!! And you couldn’t have Parcel Force
parcels delivered to the local Post Office, you had to collect it from the
Parcel Force depot or rearrange delivery. Why? The people behind the
counter said this was because they were separate companies. Very confusing.

Parcelforce historically had some of it's own computer systems separate to RM perhaps they are now being merged for efficiency. Post Office is a separate entity to RM/Pacelforce so there are contracts between them on which products can be dropped off or collected from branches. Similar to how some branches can do Evri and others can't it depends what has been agreed.

Parcelforce is just a trading name of Royal Mail.  They aren't separate companies but they have effectively operated separately until now.

They are now merging the two networks and the account/website interfaces are being combined but the actual services provided will remain separate.

You can now drop off Parcelforce parcels at the Post Office.

Apologies if this was mentioned already but I noticed in the last week or so you can now buy Parcelforce services within Royal Mail Click & Drop - where you choose small parcel, medium parcel, etc. there is now large parcel as well which gives you a range of Parcelforce options.

(For these purposes they define large parcel as Max weight:30kg, Max length:150cm, Max size:Length + girth must be no more than 300cm)

Here's the way I see it, sure people have different ideas. I am not going to reduce the item price to accommodate the overcharge that Ebay are imposing onto buyers, therefore the total price of my items becomes far higher than the other platforms I sell on. This said customers will simply shop elsewhere, and the small profit ebay thinks it will get, will be lost due to dwindling customers and lack of sales.

Also the word Simple used to have a different meaning back in my day, it was a substitute word for Stupid, and I think we can all agree that Stupid is what this is!

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Yes i have stopped selling on ebay as well. After 10 years. it really is a shame. It was so simple before, they changed it to Simple Delivery.  I hope they see sense and give us the option to sell and send how we want. I would rather they introduced the fees for selling again. Then have Simple Delivery. Let's hope they come to their senses.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

We were printing labels in the evri parcel drop off point ,we just tapped into the machine in the shop the 6 figures that are found below the QR code ,the machine then printed out the label ,but the drop off shop that was a tesco express have removed the printer because they said it was going wrong too often and said we could drop off parcels if they had a label already on them ,but we notice now that when looking at where the evri drop off shops are ,the tesco express is not listed ,the nearest evri drop off shop now is 2.5 miles away at a  post office ,our main PO in our town wouldn't do evri because the tesco express was a stones throw away ,but now that the evri part  has gone we will have to cancel evri as a postal option for buyers .I have tried to contact evri but you can't get past the AI assistant online .

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

No, you cannot use eBay's Simple Delivery service for selling gold and silver in the UK. Simple Delivery has a list of excluded items, and precious metals like gold and silver are included in that list.
Why it's excluded:
  • High value:
Gold and silver items are often of high value, and Simple Delivery is not designed to cover the full value of such items in case of loss or damage.

  • Potential for fraud:
Due to the high value of precious metals, there's a greater risk of fraudulent claims or loss during shipping, which Simple Delivery may not adequately address.

What you should do instead:
  • Use a secure shipping method:
For valuable items like gold and silver, it's recommended to use a tracked and insured shipping method, such as Royal Mail Special Delivery, which provides signature confirmation and coverage for loss or damage.

  • Consider Authenticity Guarantee:
If you're selling jewellery that includes gold or silver, you can explore the eBay Authenticity Guarantee program if the item meets the requirements (e.g., UK seller, UK buyer, specific value and condition).

  • Communicate with the buyer:
Clearly state in your listing that you are using a secure shipping method and provide details about the tracking and insurance.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

A silver sixpence from around 100 years ago is worth about £2, so not really that high value. But here you have an opt out for custom postage based on the item being letter sized and under £10.

Typically, when you DO go over £10 then SD kicks in and you need a large letter.

What's interesting is the admission that High Value items SHOULD be sent with Special Delivery after all. SD is neither 'insured' nor is it 'secure' so it simply will NOT do. Which is all well in theory but how a seller is supposed to get custom postage options to appear (aside from categories or bulky stuff)?

Same as with low value items then? SD is OTT.

How do you cancel one of the dog 💩 simple delivery labels?

I’ve sold a £3 small comic with free postage should be no more than standard second class £1.55 at most and they want £2.72 leaving me a massive 18p profit 🤣
I was going to cancel the order but it only gives you 3 options that are completely irrelevant.

eBay is very broken now.
