AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

This really will end up being a shadow of the platform it used to be.

"Hope it wasn't a hack attempt with the amount of details they hold on everyone"
I wondered that, so I asked Google “Has ebay been hacked today”. AI answered as follows:
15-05-2025 9:32 PM
Is that is true that is a really shocking thing to have been kept quiet!
15-05-2025 9:34 PM
It was 2014.
uk’s data commissioner the ICO was involved.

We can only hope that it didn't affect accounts here.
That was kept quiet.

It was 11 years ago…

So AI was wrong in saying - twice - that it was in Feb/Mar 2025. I would have been surprised if it had been true.

Only goes to show how easy it is to jump to the wrong conclusions and create unnecessary worry.

I didn't jump to conclusions. I asked the question if it was true. I would say it goes to show how easy it is for AI to be wrong.

Its unlikely to have been a hack today as apart from images not loading everything else seemed to be working ok searches and listing pages opening and loading cleanly ( apart from images)
Image file load asynchronously so if there any latencies or delay you just get a blank box but the page still loads which what was happening . The problem seemed to resolve itself fairly quickly

I didn't reply to you but made a general observation as to what is rife on the Boards at the moment.
AI is exactly that - artificial - it's only as good as the programmer - and nowadays the standard leaves a lot to be desired.
Hacks happen all the time - as a snapshot ............

'Only goes to show how easy it is to jump to the wrong conclusions and create unnecessary worry.'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And shows how easy it is to believe any old tut simply because it comes out of AI.
AI can HALUCINATE complete rubbish.
Everybody has to realise that or reality is bugg**ed.

The only other thing I can think of is the big push to get all the remaining sellers onto SD in time for the 20th.

Ai is stupid in its current form
Because
humans programme it
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
and it won’t change any time soon unless a million einsteins are born
case in point
i was looking at a listing for a vintage soup serving bowl
the Ai description said this comes with a complete set of sprouts
I messaged the seller and we had a good laugh

"I didn't reply to you but made a general observation as to what is rife on the Boards at the moment."
Rather difficult not to take it as a comment on my post under the circumstances though. Considering I asked "is it true" and "is AI mistaken", I would have thought it was obvious that I was sceptical about its veracity. However, considering it IS what AI said - twice - I see no reason not to ask whether it was true or not. Thankfully it isn't, as somebody confirmed. Result.

I would guess "A1" mis read a time stamp on the target file rather the date from the text .
It could happen if the file was copied or moved from one storage location to another and the original time stamp was not preserved .
In the good all days google would have just provided a link to the story 🙂

If someone can't make a general observation on any one particular point, what is the point of these discussion Boards?
Or do we only kow-tow to those who are generally vociferous to make sure of their incorrect point?
Any buyer (as I am) reading this Board would certainly put me off buying from anyone posting here - or even buying on eBay if this is the general opinion.

"If someone can't make a general observation on any one particular point,"
So it was a comment on my post. You previously said that it wasn't.
