AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Item sold on Ebay buyer gave feedback, but Ebay have not released the funds, they are laying eggs on it. Its not two days, it can be as long as they want.
ebay have lost business morals. Regardless if I am selling trash for cash. Item sold , got positive feedback. Ebay should release the funds thats it. People need to standup and call ebay to express this mess.

I agree the free service is not worth the effort, I'm a Silver Seller, but the Platinum level is economic for sellers with loads of items to list, especially if they're low value or slow to sell.
I do think they would grow a lot faster if they offered a fully featured service on a reasonable % charge as the fixed upfront fee to get the features I would want as a minimum does put people like me off signing up. Even the monthly fee for most of the features looks too high for a casual seller of personal items who hasn't got any idea how well things might sell there. I'm also not a fan of how obstructive the generic full screen adverts are when browsing.

I imagine anything we complain about falls on deaf ears at the moment.

Your right it falls on Deaf ears but all ebay users are not Deaf, they will stand up and make noise to be heard lounder.

I find this puzzling, as you have stated many times in this thread that you are not selling, and are closing down your accounts.
Or are you only closing the one we see, and carrying on as normal with your other account(s)?
Or are you just making up nonsense to stir up ill-feeling on the boards?

Yes, the lack of support is somewhat worrying. I understand that historically they have eventually resolved the issues but the communication doesn't seem great. I've been lurking for a few weeks to get an idea of what it's like.

Yeah..I imagine the main reason ebay uk's "traffic" is still busy is because most users keep checking in to see when they're going to sort this mess out.

Like you I have just a couple of low value letter sized items listed again and nothing in EBay’s email will encourage me to post anything more. EBay are dead in my opinion because if I’m not selling my collectibles I probably won’t look to buy either.

Just been down to my local P.O. which is located in a MORRISON'S LOCAL shop.I asked the girl behind the P.O. counter if they had received any notification from Royal Mail informing them to accept any EBAY parcel which is over the weight that is stated on the pre paid label? She said she hadn't. She called the Manager over who said he hadn't had any such notification...I asked him what be would do if it was over weight? he said he would add postage stamps onto the parcel to bring the cost up to the required value, and charge the customer the extra. This is the second SHOP located Post Office near to where live, that do the same thing.. Would Royal Mail go to all the trouble of sorting out where the few parcels with a pre paid label and stamps came from??I don't think so!!!
As far as 'they' are concerned that have got the correct payment for that particular parcel.. Probably 90% of the people who work for Royal Mail aren't aware that this is "Against The Rules"
Its O.K. some 'Smart Alec's' on here, saying you can't do it as Parcel labels or applicable to VAT.. BUT that's two of my local Post Offices that or doing it.. How many more P.O's do a similar thing???

There's a spoof online award ceremony called the DHOTY Awards.
DHOTY stands for "Didn't Happen Of The Year"
Your post above must be in the running for one of these awards.

Have you seen a simple delivery postage label? They don't show the postage on them - thats a confidential rate between ebay and Royal Mail - its not available to the post office. The labels also dont show the size or weight on them - they just state postage paid.
So it would be impossible for the post office to surcharge the customer.
08-05-2025 1:09 PM
Exactly.
it is a nonsense that RM are just sticking stamps on an SD label as a surcharge as that would not be valid nor legal - the weight is not shown and nor is the value or amount paid. RM should NOT be doing this.
there are 2 solutions to this 1) deselect RM for SD and use Evri only. I assure you Tesco’s workers will not be weighing or sticking stamps on. 2) AND THIS IS THE EASY ONE. Weigh the item before launching, allow for packaging and select the CORRECT weight range as I do.
I have been doing this from the beginning of SD and have no problems.

I uploaded an image showing the information i.e.' LETTER 1g' However it doesn't appear to be visible???

I tried last week but could not fathom it out (i really am technically ignorant) that is my nephew comes in handy!! I had trouble with e bay when i first started but once i got going it was easy so not predicting a long term problem. My printer went off line for some reason today and i am putting off doing anything because it takes forever - and ebay want me to print off labels- not a chance.
08-05-2025 1:28 PM
Here's a copy of an SD label. I have only blocked out the buyer's and seller's addresses and a couple of digits of the tracking number.
Perhaps you could be kind enough to point out where the weight and/or the price paid are shown on that label?
08-05-2025 1:29 PM
A SD label does NOT show the price paid.
it might show the max weight allowed for example 1kg.
RM or the person in an Evri parcel receipt shop, will not know what you or your buyer paid for that weight (and no knowledge of any discounts or corporate level deals and arrangements) and therefore they cannot surcharge anyone. They should not be doing this.
check the weights eBay are suggesting and select the right band and this problem will disappear.
08-05-2025 1:31 PM
I checked a SD label myself generated a few moments ago for a sold item.
it does show a weight band but NOT a price.
08-05-2025 1:35 PM
So if the weight shown is 1kg and the parcel weighs 2 kgs there is the problem the postmaster/ mistress has hence she just added postage stamps to bring it up to the required value for the weight..

It would probably be 'unhelpful' for Ebay to remind a buyer at the point of delivery if they'd been charged for a 2kg small parcel when their item arrived in a 100g large letter?
Hopefully the SD process (once it is up and running) will allow for buyers that have been overcharged postage to take this up with Ebay and claim the appropriate partial refund from them and/or the relevant courier in lieu of overpaid postage...
