AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Mine has taken 2 things back this month couldn't be bothered to read the note on the door or delivery instructions on my order, not from here, somewhere else, but it's very hit and miss

Have you gone to, the one that starts with E? Or somewhere else? I'm asking because i don't know which other place to go.
TIA

Your stuff would really suit V. I had a go on it last night, its really easy to list.

I think your items would be more suited for the one that's known more for clothes. Although the one with a similar name to here might be a second option.

All the continuous changes and amendments only add to the confusion.
Half the amendments should have been there in the first place.

You are right about there being so many costs.
I think it was a combination of BPF and me not paying for promoted listings that caused my sales to plummet through the floor even though I never had that many items listed.
Even with the 30p charge for RM collection it would still work out cheaper than using SD so that's why I've not relisted the items I removed.

Just out of curiosity I googled eb*d uk traffic.
Up by 50% in the UK. Now if that translates to new registrations and then sales I don’t know, the same stat site has eBay uk down by 3%.
Given the size of each platform it’s probably relative.
Lots of other info on there too.

Traffic might have increased but the architecture of the site hasn't been improved.
No one has been able to upload any photos to the site for the last three days and no acknowledgement of any issue from eBid.
Can you imagine the vitriol that would be unleashed if that was eBay?

I have never used RM collection but if i did i would not mind paying the fee, why should it be for 'free', they are providing a service which costs them money in time and fuel. At least you get what you pay for unlike EVRI

E, but have paid for the premium service for life, but should work out cheaper in the long run than what i have paid in sellers fees over the years. Not worth the effort for the completely free service as i have lots of items. Its a real shame because up until this year i have really enjoyed my selling on here but there is only so many changes i can take and SD was the final straw.

my problem with V is that the delivery is still the same and i want to be able to do my own thing.

I cannot work out how to do the photos anyhow, waiting for my tech savvy relative to spare me time.!

While V also have managed delivery it's better because you can combine bundles of items, there is no unnecessary price penalty for a seller excluding carriers and the buyers can actually see the name of the carrier to make an informed choice on what they are buying as there are qualitative aspects to delivery beyond simply the duration and if it's tracked or not.

We might not be what is wanted now but hopefully in the not to distant future we'll be the ones that were needed.
In the not too distant future ebay might realise that private sellers were the ones that were needed to make ebay the success it once was, but do we really want ebay to go back to being so successful ?
It's pretty obvious that private sellers are being treated as second class sellers. We don't even get full visibility in the UK market unless we pay, let alone access to the millions of overseas buyers. That requires paying more fees for international sales.
Ebay can do that because it has the reputation for being the best place for sales in many (especially niche) categories. That reputation is used to squash competition from smaller sites, stunting their growth.
IMO it would be better to bite the bullet, take some pain now that ebay has shown us clearly that private sellers mean nothing to them and get other sites to give some real competition to ebay. That can only be better for all private sellers in the longer term.

This morning sellers are reporting that they're no longer having that problem.
For future reference, when something like this glitch happens, The Management there usually doesn't acknowledge the problem until they've fixed it. Then they announce the fact that there was a problem and that it's now working again on their Site Updates board. Probably when I return later today they will have done so.

Maybe one of eBay's next brand new features will be something called custom postage/delivery, they've made that amendments recently that they probably forgot we used to do that anyway. Won't hold my breath though.

Well done you !! For taking the trouble to read all their options and picking the one that suits your needs instead of jumping in with both feet but little to sell and regretting it. Selling off a glass collection and having only a few hundred items in an under-populated niche category, I've never paid for the lifetime membership and been selling for pennies, for years.
I agree the free service is not worth the effort, I'm a Silver Seller, but the Platinum level is economic for sellers with loads of items to list, especially if they're low value or slow to sell.

That many amendments should have said 🤦

It is a bit clunky and you might have been caught-up in the up-load problem. I use the Advanced uploader using edited photos on my laptop (Windows Pictures). Opening the uploader when listing opens my files. Open each photo in turn > the photo's I.D appears in the uploader. When all transferred click Start Upload and they appear on the the listing. You can drag & drop to re-arrange.
With a bit of practice you'll be able to take your photos in the order you want them on the ad. to save time.
