NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Thanks glad it's working for you i need to make more effort, busy time in the garden lately and the break is probably doing me good. I was listing like mad just before the BPF came in and it was stressful. I have a problem with a certain place that uses Mango-pay as can't supply ID having no drivers licence or passport and don't want to buy one of them at my age, so this limits my options

Unsure I am understanding you correctly - are you saying ebay is still your cheapest choice, or you have found better prices elsewhere, or are the items not available elsewhere?

I've certainly had some real bargains for the things I buy elsewhere in the past month at prices I know would never get that low here. But on other items ebay is still the best option but that might be less often when SD is enabled on those sellers. As a seller I have also sold for better prices on some items elsewhere than I was unable to get here where they were stagnating.

Don't let it get to you too much. I let it get to me a few weeks ago but now I really don't care anymore.

The only real gripes I have got now is that there's no real communication and they just don't care about how many users have been affected.

Assuming it's the same place I haven't been asked for that ID but then I haven't tried to withdraw money as I am happy to re-spend it on that platform. Maybe when I hit a certain volume of transactions etc they might ask for ID or maybe they ID checked me electronically in the background no idea.

Yes you are right but i'm on my own now and rescue and rehome animals selling my stuff pays for their food etc and i have just taken 5 fish in, not free i paid something for them. Have tortoise, parrots, snakes and more and my 5 dogs so it's going to be hard without the selling.

That really upsets me too the lack of communication hanging on here waiting and waiting for this SD to either be there or be disabled when i had planned to leave on a certain date like most of us did. It's actually a very clever and deliberate move

I really hope things get better for you because what you do is such a great cause and you certainly deserve better than your getting at present.

When I've searched on google/shopping in the last month, I've always been able to find what I've wanted to buy.  The item has always been either the same price as on ebay, or cheaper than on ebay.  So even when the prices are the same, I've bought from elsewhere because ebay has lost my loyalty.  When the item has been cheaper than on ebay, no contest.  I've not been looking for rare or vintage items so it hasn't been difficult to find other stockists.  Maybe I'll have to buy on ebay again if I can't find the item elsewhere, but ebay is no longer my first port of call.

Totally agree with you could have off loaded some more of my items which I know certain buyers are interested in, tempted to list the whole lot in one go and see what happens with the provisio no custom postage item withdrawn no sale.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

We went to our main large post office today with a QR code that we transferred onto our small pixi phone /tablet  thing and we asked the lady behind the counter could she type in the long number that is under the QR code into the system and print out a label for parcel and she said yes she can ,she said it takes a bit longer  but can be done ,she also said write the buyers address on the parcel too just to be sure the label is for right address .So that made us pleased as we don't have a printer .Also in the Evri parcel drop off shop ,if you don't have a smart phone ebay can give you a 6 digit number that you can type into the printing pad in the parcel shop and that will print out a label for you to put on your parcel which you then take to the cash counter and they scan the parcel label and give you a receipt . If you do have a smart phone but  not a printer ,you  follow the instructions on the pad to scan the QR code .The printer pad  can be tilted so you then scan the QR code below the printer  pad a beam reads the QR code and a label gets printed ,it is all quite straight forward ,very like using the self serve check outs in supermarkets .The staff in the drop off shops will help you too if you are not sure what to do .I have put a picture of the evri printing pad for you to see

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I've just googled the question "are members of ebay happy with simple delivery uk".  For interest, this is the answer AI gave me.

==============

Overall, many eBay UK members are dissatisfied with Simple Delivery, citing issues with transparency, control, and the perceived negative impact on their sales and customer service. While some acknowledge the convenience and benefits, the mandatory nature and perceived limitations are causing frustration.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Concerns from Sellers:

Lack of Transparency:
Sellers find it difficult to understand how Simple Delivery determines postage costs and which courier will be used, leading to confusion and potential overcharging.

Loss of Control:
Sellers are losing control over their shipping choices and the ability to use their preferred methods, especially Royal Mail.

Perceived Negative Impact on Sales:
Some sellers believe that the new system will negatively impact their sales due to the potential for longer dispatch times and less reliable delivery.

Customer Service Issues:
Sellers are concerned about handling customer inquiries and potential disputes related to delivery issues with Simple Delivery.

Inconvenience for Physically Challenged Sellers:
Some sellers, particularly those with mobility issues, find it difficult to drop off parcels at Evri (formerly Hermes) drop-off points, as they may not be conveniently located or accessible.

Financial Concerns:
Sellers worry about potential losses due to incorrect postage calculations or damages during transit, especially with less reliable carriers.

Concerns from Buyers:

Limited Choice:
Buyers are frustrated that they have limited control over their shipping choices, particularly if they have preferred carriers or services.

Perceived Higher Costs:
Some buyers believe that Simple Delivery is more expensive than traditional shipping options, even though eBay claims it is the same cost.

Potential for Delivery Issues:
Buyers are concerned about the reliability of the carriers used by Simple Delivery, particularly regarding the potential for lost or damaged items.

In summary: While Simple Delivery offers some benefits like convenience and tracking, the mandatory nature, lack of transparency, and potential for negative impact on both buyers and sellers are causing widespread dissatisfaction. Many sellers feel they are losing control over their business and that the new system is not in their best interest.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I'm disabled i cannot get to a post office or drop off. I buy my labels from RM click and collect online and print them. RM used to collect everything free but now i will go to postbox for letters can get to one just up the road. We need parcel boxes in the street but they tend to put those in business estates. The post office is in the back of a shop and i couldn't stand in the queue anyway

That seems a hell of a lot of bother to post a parcel. Whereas previously
you just handed it over to the person in the P.O. Who in my case, just
stamped my Certificate of Posting and gave it me back. 10 seconds at most..

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

As I said in a previous post IF we are FORCED to use this SD system I will
mark EVERYTNING as 'BUYER COLLECTS' with a note that "Your item will be
collected by an "AGENT"!!! on your behalf who will post the item onto you
All the "AGENT" needs from the Buyer is the "Collection Code"
Looks like I've re invented the ROYAL MAIL

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Some of my listings that were set up as custom postage service with allowance for combined shipping have now all reverted to SD. There was no option to change the cost and the buyer who bought a few items had to pay full price for 3 separate envelopes when they could have all gone in 1. Ebay really have gone to Sh~~t, if anyone human left at ebay can read this - sort your BS out.
