NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

you could have gone to another site that is properly organised and works well!   It may still have a 'simple delivery' system but at least it works as it is supposed to.  No way will i sell anything on here with the shambles they have made of it.  As for not complaining after 7 months, why not?   It shows that after all that time there are still a lot of dissatisfied people out in the real world.  So maybe they will not change anything back but then again they may, depends on how it has affected their bottom line.  Cave in and sell on here and not complain and it just means they have beaten you down into submission.

not quite correct, many of us have not, we have left and in my case will stay left unless they sort themselves out.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Simple Delivery and the control that ebay has forced upon users seems to be because they don't like users thinking and knowing what is best for themselves.

Any trust and belief i had here has definitely gone.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Well maybe if this platform took notice of what a lot of people have said about the broken Simple Delivery we wouldn't need to keep saying it.

Maybe you have chosen to jump through hoops and say yes sir and no sir, but plenty of users have not and will not.

Yes you are entitled to have your say but don't expect everyone to agree.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I have just bought a games console from a private seller for testing games that I have to sell, and I chose click and collect (Evri).

It only cost me a bit over £3 for the postage. The seller has good feedback for their packaging and that cheaper postage option swung it for me over a few other options that I was looking at. I maintain it can be win win for everyone if done properly. I can’t compete with that postage price myself if I ever come to re-sell it on my business account.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I absolutely agree.

Yes some people have just layed down and accepted it and good luck to them.

Some have started selling elswhere, and like me they are still keeping a eye on things here to see if the platform implodes.

And lastly but not least, there are users that detest Simple Delivery and dislike Evri, who are a second rate courier company trying to mix it with the big boys.

When Simple Delivery becomes fair for everyone and transparency and honesty is seen here again then maybe we won't need to repeat things.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Ive already had a few buyers and sellers in the US say that they know it's rough here in the last few weeks.

Ive told them that when and if Simple Delivery actually becomes user friendly for a lot more people I would consider selling again within the UK and to the US.

But until then there's no chance.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You missed those who just are happy to sell with the terms eBay lays out to sell on their platform.

that isnt ‘laying down and accepting it’

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Great post.

Maybe when the extent of the damage that Simple Delivery has caused the platform and with there still being a lot of unhappy users they will look into making some proper amendments.

Simple Delivery needs to become the finished offering as a main starting point.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Very well said.

Even if ebay doesn't want to give private sellers as much control over their decisions like we had, I wish they would at least realise that regarding postal options a seller knows what is suitable for them, rather than trying to work around Simple Delivery and the small amount of options it gives.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Sorry to those i missed out.

A lot of newer users would accept things as they are now, but then again there are a awful lot of users that have been here between 5-25 years that think the platform has been ruined by Simple Delivery etc.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Maybe they think that the long-term small sellers have had their day and they're looking for contemporary 'new blood' to refresh the site?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I've hesitated about selling due to SD, but after getting used to it , yes it's a pita but at least I'm selling stuff, and it more importantly its keeping my small town Post office open. That's more important to my town than some tuppenny happeny fee.

If its against competition laws let the state sort it out.

Ebay already back tracked on withholding money payouts,  they must have had a wrap across the knuckles for that one

what's  the point of protesting when the fees from your sales won't even buy the ebay office cleaners a cup of coffee each.

For those that don't like evri, I detest them. Just select RM simples.

It's not as if its costing ME anything,  if your old items are priced good enough for buyers to buy them and pay the fees and still be happy about it, its OK by me.

This thread has gone on in a reciprocal argument with multiple people making the same comments for months.

There's a reason ebay have let it run for so long, it just needs a bit of  nounce to realise why.

Plus I'm not promoting my items and sales are up.

Maybe ebay want to cut out the dead wood private sellers with unrealistic items at unrealistic prices. It's their servers they are clogging up.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You may be right, it could well be a form of "constructive dismissal", and it's no secret that the head honcho wants the site to go towards the luxury goods end of the market and doesn't want ebay's traditional markets.  "New blood" may accept all the myriad of changes (not just SD) that there have been lately because they don't know that a better way used to exist, but whether they'll actually get new blood has yet to be seen.  It's all over the internet as well as at the pub and the water cooler that there's a lot of dissatisfaction with ebay, which isn't encouraging for newcomers, and I gather younger people wouldn't be seen dead on ebay anyway.

It would have been cleverer not to have thrown the baby out with the bath water, and to have found a way of attracting new blood without causing a firestorm amongst its existing customers.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Hi @rugbyguy1960

This thread says nearly 1000 times "we hate it". That is in spades down to you keeping it alive.

We know what we want, but I can't think of any other ways to protest the the enforced changes. I will keep filling in the surveys, emailing the bosses, the forums, the press, but I really have lost hope of big changes.

Look forward each month to the updates and live in hope.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Ah, but ‘new blood’ and ‘existing customers’ are two entirely different and separate beasts.

Visit (just about) any site and you’ll find ‘satisfied’ and ‘dissatisfied’ (old and/or established) buyers and sellers (that is if the site hasn’t already shut down its Boards).

It's not just eBay (grass is greener etc?)

It’s all down to the individual - what they’re used to, how they adapt or not - what’s good for one isn’t good for another etc - and, as you say, those who don’t know the old ways.

Bottom line - you either roll up your sleeves and get on with it or you don’t and give up.

But there are those (who’ve said - vociferously - months and months ago) that they’re giving up - they’re no longer going to list and sell/buy on eBay blah blah blah - yet there are quite a reasonable number of them who are laughably still listing.

Search the Boards, if you can be bothered, and you’ll find them.

But maybe, just maybe, eBay just wants new blood.

Own choice.

(To a large extent)

And a lack of meddling and imposition.

Absolutely. Once upon a time ebay had a light touch. Over the years this has been nibbled away at as the need to create revenue streams has grown ever stronger until we've reached intrusion in to seller's choices and control.

I don't believe eBay will ever be the goto place for luxury goods - there's already too much fake stuff on eBay from China to risk paying out good money for cheap copies . It's the small private sellers that have niche unique collectable items that need to be retained - they're certainly most of the purchases I make, and usually items that I could never get anywhere else.
